Flint, how was the quality of NU’s shooting today? Yikes, 3-2 against a cellar dweller…
I mean, the shot disparity was staggering. I thought Misericordia’s goalie played well. The Cadets clearly carried play all night and it didn’t feel like a close game, despite the score. Sloppy in their own zone at times, one occasion resulted in the Cougars second goal.
Misericordia played tough after going down early to Cortland yesterday, and I thought Cortland looked pretty good so there’s something there for the cougars future if they stay the course.
I really don’t like to name players on here but two things from the tournament I need to comment on. 1. Ocean Fancy takes way too many penalties. Talented kid but FFS. 2. Colin Elliott has a new PP habit of camping out in front of the crease and trying this slow, gentle little turnaround wrister and I hate it. Probably tried it 4-6 times this weekend.
To my eyes, Norwich plays up or down to the level of their opponent most nights. Really good teams bring it every night regardless.
I’m still a buyer on Dawes, and I’ll be disappointed in less than an LEC “regular season championship” (dumbest term in sports btw), but I think it’ll be year 2 or 3 before we really see a real return to form for the Cadets (IF the school supports recruiting properly).
Last thing sticking in my craw. The “fans” aren’t helping the boys at all. There’s no juice in that building whatsoever. Used to be an intimidating place to play. Sure, the team was better but the crowds were large, loud, and energetic . A raucous crowd absolutely helps the home team and the Cadets get nothing from the Kreitzberg faithful.
Positives: Brady Harroun played tonight. If you know his story, pretty awesome. Stahlbaum continues to be a nice addition. Frankie D’Ancona reminds me of a McShane forward; fast, shifty, skilled. I continue to be a fan of Walcarius. Given his circumstances, really cool to see him play and play pretty well.
