Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Prez, what will happen to tickets purchased on line prior to the game against Castleton if the game is postponed? If the weather is as bad as they think it might be, I hope the game is moved. I hate driving down the hill from the interstate into Northfield in a bad snow storm. Can we cancel our tickets and get a credit/refund? Yes, call me chicken.

By the way, your last post is just an X in a box.

Exit in Montpelier and and take Route 12

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

At this time the game is still on, I am told the only reason for a postponement would be if the refs can't make it here. Castleton and Skidmore have both notified us that they are coming. Get your snow shoes on and get underway.

IMO, stay on I89 to Exit 5, Route 12 from Montpelier to Norwich (Northfield) is worse than downhill moguls. Just passed through last weekend after stoping at the Subway across from the chinese food place and decided to see if Route 12 had been improved at all - it hasn't!!

No one is forcing you to come....Drive safe if you make the trek though. It's not too bad here in Northfield.

I just (3:15pm) talked to my cousin coming in to Plattsburgh from Syracuse, he is taking Route 3 from Watertown and had just left Saranac Lake (left North Syracuse at noon), he said that while there is a lot of snow, it is extremely non-compact and not that bad to drive through.

Curious, wouldn't coming over the top on Rt 11 be flatter (and faster)? Yes you have to duck down @ Rouses Point or so, but I've taken that route in a wicked snowstorm and it was not too bad.

I think so, I usually reserve the shorter (and POTENTIALLY faster) Route 3 for the summer months - I suspect he is following his GPS.

I grew up in Carthage and when I first moved to Plattsburgh I used to make the trip 2 or 3 times a month. Even in the winter Rt 3 is the better way. Too much open area on Rt 11 where the wind causes many drifts. Especially from Malone to Chateaugay and from Churubusco to Ellenburgh. The Brainardsville road is even worse. With all the trees you are much more protected from the wind on Rt 3. Even in good weather Rt 11 was about 3 hrs 15 minutes (and that was prior to Plank Rd across Ft Drum being closed to civillian traffic) and Rt 3 about 2 Hrs 40 minutes. This was Platty to Carthage, add 10 min each way for H2Otown.

One more great game for the Cadets. 6-1 over Castleton. Norwich has scored 17 goals in the last two games played at Norwich vs Castleton

Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Why is the record for Norwich in the KRACH ratings different than Norwich's record listed everywhere else on this website?

Which games were D1/D2? They all look like D3 teams to me in the schedule.

St Michaels is DII, 2 games; St Anselm is DII, 2 games; and Dartmouth is DI , 1 game (is 1 of their 25 games allowed by the NCAA)

Wow, so the ECAC East has D3 and D2 teams in it? How is that even allowed? That's just weird. I'd imagine if the NCAA doesn't use those games, that puts Norwich at a severe disadvantage when it comes time for Pool C bids, right?

That is always possible, but since they usually win these games, and even if they lost, since the D2 teams can't be ranked, it wouldn't hurt that ratio either. Their SOS is also a great help.

Upon further review, since Norwich has clinched the tie breaker with UMB, they are guaranteed the number 1 seed in the ECAC East.

If UMB wins out, they would split with Norwich in head to head, but would have only 13 wins in league play. Norwich already has 14 wins. The second tie breaker is league wins.
