Re: Norwich hockey 2012-2013: Our thread closed before Owsego's

Recap up on Norwich Athletics website:

Dartmouth edges Norwich 4-3

It looked like Carroll was very shaky in his few minutes of play. I was afraid that my 1,500 miles of travel would be to see a blowout, but the Cadets played well. Czarnota looked good, except for the goal he gave up in the second, which was a trickle through the legs job after he made the initial save. I was pleasantly surprised with the play of Marinisek (spelling?) in the third.

The thing that stuck out in my mind about the offense was the fact that there were several (at least 3)instances of really poor play at the left point on the power play. I remember one where he was set up three feet on the wrong side of the blue line. Cotnoir was on the right point, but I couldn't see who that was. Those are the kinds of things that a bit of practice could help. All in all a good showing except for the first few minutes.

Prof,
I think the incident you were talking about (3 feet outside the blueline) was with Hale ... it was the end of the PP and he had backed out to cover the man coming out of penalty box.

Surprised there hasn't been more chatter here. All you folks who were there (GREAT crowd) what did you think?

I'm sure you are right...I think on the play he could/would have held the puck in if he hadn't backed up, and I think it was a little premature. I think things like that are examples of what happens early in the season, especially after less than a week of official practices. The good thing is that overall the team looked good. I am concerned about the goalie situation - I hope that the wobbles that Carroll had were just early season jitters.

Parker is also breaking in new pads...He's only had them a couple of days.

Hey Prez --

Is the ECAC-E going to use 2 Ref / 2 Line this system or the 2 Ref 1 Line (for the last year)?

I asked about this last week and I didn't get a straight answer. We'll find out on Friday I guess!

Question for George, Charlie, or Prez

Are games archived at NSN? Are games archived at WDEV? For example, if I have something to do on Friday afternoon, will I be able to see or hear the game in the evening? (7:00 starts in VT become 5:00 starts in CO and sometimes I think I'm going to miss starts of home games). Can I "see/hear" a game before I visit the score threads here?

This is important

After seeing the Cadets play against DC, I'm all pumped up. I wish I weren't going to visit my sister this weekend - I'd have loved another chance to see them play live against Three Rivers (or Trois Riviers). Oh, well...

Games are archived on NSN but there may be a change this year to that system on permission rights. We'll keep you posted.

I want to miss as few games as possible - I think this is going to be (another) good year, based on what I saw Sunday

Parker didnt have a fair chance. Dartmouth over took the young guy's for the first 5-6 min. One goal got deflected over his sholder of our own d-fence men another goal we left a player open in front of the net and he 1-timed it.

2 of the 3 goals were not on him. Agreed.

Unfortunately, I have to visit my sister in PA otherwise, I'd have made two games on this visit. I assume you will be there along with a color commentator, whoever that may be this year,

I have never seen a Major Junior game in Canada but the NU/UQTR game must of been just like one. A UQTR player wanted to start a fight and got a game misconduct with just a few mingutes gone in the game. Game was very rough in the first period in which NU scored 2 goals to UQTR 1. Once the game settled down it was a great game to watch with both teams having scoring chances. When the players were being introduced UQTR made the Norwich players wait 3-4 minutes before finally coming out on the ice. I not sure wait that was about but I have never seen anything like it in college hockey. Overall it was one of the most exciting college games I have seen.

Anyone who skipped this exhibition game missed a thriller ... a wild crazy excitng two hours of hockey ... the big Cadets contingent on hand was loud and supportive! Not the most artistic game, but an exciting one none the less.

Wild is the only way to describe what we witnessed last night.
