Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

... will the jerseys the players wearing last night be worn at Fenway. I liked the color ...
My wife's exact quote "Those are the ugliest jerseys I've ever seen"

Norwich is the hardest working team in recent memory. Never take a shift off, and get traffic and shots to the front simultaneously as well as anyone.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

I hope they auction them off SOON! They are the ugliest ever!!

I like them. Especially I like the script Norwich as a throwback to the days before we had the ugly bearded left handed Russian riding his horse across the player's chests. I'd like it even better if they were white.

Sorry we don't get to play Elmira again. It would have been a quality game. Oh well, takes the Prez off the hook anyway :D

My problem with them is the color!! I do like the Norwich script, however.. and I also prefer the old Maroon and Gold.

Hawk was spotted in the VIP section last night? Did he finally pay off the bet with Cadet Crosby???? BTW the worse uniforms I have ever seen a Norwich team wear!

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

What is the story with the new uniforms? Someone told me they are or were styled from old unis worn in the 80's by Norwich? Are they considered our alternive jersey's? Are the names going to get put on all the unis? (I like that idea, I think the guys desearve/have earned, getting their names on the back.) However, I the color scheme makes it difficult to read the names and numbers. Were they ordered specifically for the Frozen Fenway game? The Blue Line Club is auctioning off this same jersey from both the men's and woman's team, so is it more of a money generating jersey? Those in the know, please let us know:) Thanks

They are styled after the classic sweaters with the script Norwich across the front, which I always liked. I'm not a big fan of names on the back - numbers are good enough for me, but I'm old school - be interesting to see what they wear tonight. Looks like an alternate jersey that could be worn either as home (as a light jersey) or away (as a dark jersey if the home team wears white and not gold themselves). I'm probably the only person who really likes it. I just don't like the big logo on the sweater, I like having the school name and a number on the front.

They are styled after the jerseys from the early 2000's only with a different color scheme.

The names on the back are just for these third jerseys. The traditional home whites and road maroons will still be nameless on the back.

The only thing I feel the alternates are missing is some white trim to make the numbers and nameplates on the back stand out. Also I think the Norwich script on the front should be outlined in white as well to make them pop.

Other than that, I like them.

You can bid on them here:

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

Observations:

Norwich's depth is the biggest advantage they have against everyone they play. Sure the horses are Janke, Thomas, and Cotnoir but this team goes so much further than just those three. IMHO, Norwich has three No. 1 lines and a fourth line that ain't too shabby either and will more than likely have a 10-goal scorer on it this year in Duszynski.

With Forkey and Bell back at his disposal, coach McShane can really spread out his talent and not lose production. Instead of having to rely on Janke, Thomas and Janke to account for 6+ points every night, they can have off games and get shutout and you still have Mulvey, Allan, Duszynski, Lindensmith etc that can carry you to the win.

The defense has been impressive led by the three seniors and a tremendous first year from Alec Thieda. This kid has got the whole package going right now. Solid defender, good hockey sense to jump up into the play when needed, doesn't make many mistakes, can QB the PP, ZERO penalties so far.

The rise of Chris Czarnota has also been a great story to watch unfold. He's gone from the #3 goaltender last year to a tremendous back-up option to Parker Carroll this year. Looks comfortable between the pipes and makes the saves he should without giving up many juicy rebounds.

As long as this team keeps its head on straight, stays healthy and keeps getting production from the first guy to the 20th guy, they're gonna be a tough out.

Babson's 3-10 records mystifies me and I'm anxious for Friday afternoo's game to see what gives this year with the Beavers. They always seem to play Norwich tough and with the obvious added extra motivation of playing in Fenway, anything can happen.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

PrezedeJohnson’s Observations are spot on.

However, he might have touched on one topic closely scrutinized just before the holiday break, e.g. Kyle Thomas, his speed and its consequence. Some argued that Kyle added little more than flashy distractions and needed to be more of a playmaker. Others-- like myself—argued that his style of independence, guile and speed were an added dimension and that mattered more. Three goals this weekend for Thomas plus being named the All Tournament player certainly adds more grist to that debate.

Congratulations to Plattsburg for their Friday win—nice job against Castleton. :D

The gold uniforms? They look more tan than gold—making the team look more like camels than golden warriors. :( Go back to white. The names are a nice touch.:)

Last night, George Como spoke about next Saturday’s game at UMass Boston. He said the game started at 3PM while the USCHOL schedule says the start time is 4PM. Does anyone know for sure when the game actually starts.

Does anyone know if the major networks are planning coverage of Friday's game and will it be live or delayed? Hope I am not "yelling online" by underlining this, I just wanted it to stand out so I can hopefully get an answer (so I didn't do all capitals because I know that is yelling:(

As of now there will be no major network tv coverage. Babson talked about possibly having fast hockey broadcast the game but we haven't heard anything else about it.

The logistics are extremely difficult for a small scale broadcast considering the venue is set up for baseball and not hockey.

3 goals by Thomas, were any REAL GOOD goals??? He has the speed but needs to look to dish it off when everyone is watching/chasing him leaving the others wide open, he needs that peripheral vision..not a hater this is what he needs to work on for sure..Good Luck in Fenway

It's a shame because NESN had it all set up for the Hockey East doubleheader. I would think there would be interest in the pair of games next Friday.

Does this mean if Kyle descided to transfer or was traded to OZZ land you would be ok with this?????:D:D

" 3 goals by Thomas, were any REAL GOOD goals???

I looked at the Box Score again and could not find anything labeled a "good goal" versus "bad goal."

I am all for dissecting games to the nth degree but good goals vs bad goals? Maybe "bad call" by a ref or the goal judge absolutely. And sure we can say "that was a great shots that produced a goal". But it is sill only a single point. But can we really start defining good and bad goals?
One thing for sure is he seems willing to carry the puck right in there ahead of the pack and mix it up--regardless of the odds. Thomas has
improved every year I have seen him. And I am sure he will continue to develop in other area to the satisfaction of some of his current
critics.;)

THOMAS LAST GOAL WAS AN EMPTY NET GOAL BUT I DONT THINK ANY OTHER DIVISION 3 PLAYER COULD OF MADE THAT GOAL.

I'll pick him up and drop him off at the Campus Center:p
