Puck Voice- Hey George, the audio in Kreitzberg kept fading out during the 3rd period of the Castleton game. It's just not the same with out your play by play. Sounded like someone was pulling the plug on you. Can and will it be fixed by tomorrow? Thanks to you and Tanner for the great job you do, also glad to hear you are broadcasting from Fenway. Cool:cool:

WCAX TV video clips of the Norwich/Castleton game Friday. Some of the best TV coverage I have seen of D3 hockey in Vermont. Great interview's.

The one comment I have on the game was Eric Cinotti save on Kyle Thomas near the end of the game was outstading. I still don't know how he got his glove on the puck. Cinotte also had a number of saves on grade A chances in the second and thrid period. The Battle of Vermont was one game that more than lived up to the hype.

I actually thought it was a sloppy game to watch, especially the last two periods. Unfortunately, the refs were very inconsistent, throwing the pace of the game off kilter. It seemed like Norwich was playing too defensively in the 3rd. They never play well when they sit back and try to hold a lead. Castleton's d-men don't move the puck very well, so it was weird to see NU sitting back in the 1-2-2 giving them more time.

I agree. Norwich was not playing to win after Castleton made it 3-2 - instead they were playing to not lose the lead. When you do that you become tentative. Fortunately, it didn't cost them, but I am reminded of what is said about prevent defenses: sometimes what they prevent is winning.

Agree
Saw save close up from section 20 live
watched replay several times Great save
For PICKUM a 4-2 NU win would have been better

I don't know whether Wick was suffering from a let down from last night, but they looked dead for the first 50 minutes of hockey. (Is it possible that Skidmore was that good or do other posters think Norwich was flat?) The few exceptions were Czarnota, who was impressive in goal, McEleney had some great opportunities and Poulin got his first A to add to his first G from last night. Mulvey was his usual work horse self and Duszynski found the right place to be at the right time. In the last 10 minutes they looked a little better, but the 3-0 win was all Czarnota. Thank god for our bench! (And the fact that we can expect scoring from all 4 lines, not just the first two.)

I think the team had a lot taken out of them physically and emotionally from last night's game against Castleton.

Skidmore always seems to play us pretty tight anyway and I think Norwich was hanging back a little bit more than they usually would with Czarnota in between the pipes instead of Carroll.

It's uncanny how much better Czarnota is this year than last year. Atleast 10 times better.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

on the whole Castleton thing, they chase around to much looking for the BIG hit and I think that hurts them, they do have talent thats for sure, but they have to make up their mind if they want to win the battle and NOT the war...The Buttend thing was off the charts BAD, and if I played for the Cadets the next game that kid would be counting his teeth after a clean hit.....someone also said their coach let that kid play today, WOW they have a lot to learn....Mcshane,Gosek,Emery, that kid is out for a few games for sure..ps that Cinotti goalie for Castleton played very well, stood on his head a few times

In Kreitzberg transmitter and unit that is feeding it both need fixing or replacing ... we're working on it and I hope we'll have it squared away by the P-Burgh game.

I think that to a certain extent, Skidmore showed that you can run with the Cadets, but you'll probably tire out at the end. Skidmore did benefit from playing NU after Castleton did, but I expect that's a common experience for them on Saturday. As for Todd not benching #29 - that's just no class.

Fenway Game Jerseys
Any word on the Cadets having special jerseys for the game. Would be nice if each player had two jerseys so they could keep one for the special event and one to be auctioned off???

We shouldn't assume Todd sees what we see, no one knows that he saw what happened and chose to let 29 play in spite of it. We shouldn't go around name calling and claiming that a coach has no class, when we have NO IDEA what that coach saw or didn't see. To call someone's level of class in to question is a pretty low blow, as a coach you can only take kids so far, you can't play the game for them. Once they are on the ice, they make their own choices. Yes, you can give them consequences if they make bad choices, but only if you're aware of them. It was a big game for the Spartans on Friday, let's give coach Todd a little benefit of the doubt that maybe he was thinking about other things and didn't have an eagle eye on everyone. I'm not condoning the behavior in any way, let's not always assume that when kids make poor choices that there are always bad intentions behind it.

Let me defend my comments in three ways. 1. There's always a bit of hyperbole that is expressed on this board. "No class" is probably going a bit far. 2. I'm angry that it happened and that it was so blatant. From my seat in Section 22, I saw it happen. That goes beyond the subtle little poking an prodding that happens all the time. 3. I'm pretty sure that either Todd is very clueless, or he did know about it. When something like that shows up in not one, but both of the TV highlight packages, I find it hard to believe that he did not see it, or that somebody on his staff did not see it. I can take back the "no class," but I don't believe there is any way that he was not aware of it. Castleton is developing a reputation that is not good, and having something like this go unpunished does not help their cause. I do think that one of the goals of college athletics is growing character, and learning how to respond to a loss with a certain amount of propriety is part of that process.

I absolutely agree with you about the goal of college athletics, but I want to reiterate that you are assuming a lot. Yes, it was covered in the highlights, but the Spartans headed to Burlington for their St. Mike's game after leaving Norwich, I'm sure there was some game prep going on rather than sitting down to watch the evening news. I understand why assumptions are made, but for those of us who are familiar with the Castleton program, we know what kind of character Coach Todd has and the expectations he has for his players on and off the ice. It would be great if we could stick to discussing the Xs and Os of the games rather than speculating about people's character.

I knew it wouldnt take too long. Nice try tho, not even going to come close to buying it. Maybe he can use that in his lie, I mean excuse of why. Todd has his chance to at least attempt to make things right. Lets hope the Castleton heads step in and do something the HEAD coach should have done....but Im guessing probably not.

Well if he didn't have time to see it right after the game, he has the week to take a look at it and act upon it this weekend...
