Other CSC-NU games will come along every year...........................

Correct.

Over/under on how much longer it takes for the CSC/Norwich games to become "THE RIVALRY" of the current generation?

;)

Depends on how long it takes for CSC to win a conference championship;)

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

THE RIVALRY - probably never unless Middlebury continues on their current slide for an extended period. As long as Middlebury is Middlebury, its status won't change.

A Rivalry - maybe 5-10 years, or the first time Castleton knocks NU out of an NCAA bid, or beats NU in an NCAA game.

That being said, I'm looking forward to Saturday's game.

My heart agrees with Prof. I love the MIDD rivalry, and I think Castleton needs to win a league title before they can really be considered a true rival.

But, my eyes have seen otherwise like Prez is saying. The atmosphere at the games this year kind of speaks for itself. During the Castleton game, the crowd was rockin. During the MIDD game, the crowd was sleeping.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

To the students and players, the Rivalry probably already is "The Rivalry". They only know of the Midd-Norwich Rivalry by heresay, but already have experienced Castleton-Noorwich games. The "older "alums and fans won't buy into the CSC-NU Rivalry for a while. Back in the day, Middlebury,(that priveleged, liberal arts bastion of left-winged ideology), and Norwich, (that patriotic, blue collar, service above self institution), were natural enemies, and although like a fine wine it mellows with age, there will NEVER be a better feeling to a former Cadet than to beat Middlebury....

Peach,

I hear you. Like I said before, my heart is for the NU-MIDD rivalry all the way. However, if you were at the MIDD game this year you would understand what I'm talking about. It was embarrassing. The crowd was sparse. Those that were there were loving it, but the casual fans opted not to come. They were there to watch the Cadets play CSC though.

Well said George. For us it will always be that way!

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2011-2012: In Search of a Title

If it means anything Middlebury beat Williams at Williams tonight 5-1 ... perhaps the Panther is not dead after all.

That and Williams hit its tradtional second half swoon.
Even with thier tie against Plattsburgh it was one of the least talented teams (for their ranking) I had seen. Middlebury put up a bigger fight. When a team has to do a 2 and 3 for 1 shot on goal to make it look competitive you know it was bad. For 40 minutes Williams looked like a team Middlebury could throttle that night and did.
