Exellent points Norm. Thanks for the Taco Bell info-the $2.00 meal deal is great but I hope i don't have to cross the lake again this year for hockey.

What about when/if your boys from Castleton play Plattsburgh in the first round of the NCAA's?

Stats are good to look at but what is so suprising is there are so many players back from the NCAA's finals last year. Many of these players are outstanding forwards. I think what the stats are saying is college hockey is a team game where all the pieces have to been place to be successful. Key weekend for the Cadets to try and get to winning games.

Look at all the players Plattsburgh returned from last year, and how they started. While not National Champions they were a goal and an easy save for playing for one. Norwich will be fine, I just think there are more then just a few teams who could see their names in Minn in March. Heck one of them isn't even in the top 15 right now....

I was thinking more of Norwich crossing the lake to play Plattsburgh, but sure I would go see Castelton play the Cards if I could get a ticket. Prez you are forgetting that the Cadets are going down to Rutland in a few weeks to face Castleton in a big game. Remember Castleton has already lost to both Colby and Bowdoin who play Norwich this weekend. But it will be very interesting to see how the Cadets respond before a large crown after having a couple of setbacks.

Thanks for the dig Norm, the guy (welcher) just does not get it...

IMO, it is all about the team’s confidence in their goalie (which in turn, requires a great goalie). Everything else is just residuals. This weekend would be a good time for them to step it up a notch - and to take care of past commitments, such as a lost gentlemen's wager ;)

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Hopefully I can catch the video stream tonight. Visiting my first grandson for a post-first Christmas Christmas (Oh yeah, daughter (the mom), son-in-law, son, and daughter-in-law are here too, but we know who the star is. Tonight's game is a big one in my opinion.

You could say that with the #4 team in the country coming in as well as the leaders of the NESCAC ;)

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

I need some help. Last year I saw some Cadet games online at NSN. I see that it is now "on demand". So, I tried to find out about radio webcast and I'm hitting a brick wall. I found a link to Cadet Radio, but that takes me to an odd webpage. NSN refers to coverage of the game by radio but it sounds as though it is archive only. How do I get George Como on a live radio webcast of the Bowdoin/Norwich game? Well, anyone broadcasting the game, but George is obviously prefered. Thanks.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

We're putting up a new trophy case inside Andrews Hall right now and as I walked by today I noticed a trophy that caught my eye.

Norwich came to the Murray Athletic Center (Elmira) in 1996 for the old Star-Gazette Invitational.

This was Coach McShane's first season and the Cadets won the tournament by downing Oswego (5-4 OT) and Hamilton (9-5).

I vaguely remember this because I believe this was during Norwich's "Old Sarge" jersey phase.

Norwich ended up going 12-12 that year. Dan Rowan was named the MVP of the tournament and to the All-Tournament Team along with Geoff Liska and Brian Leary.

How's that for some name dropping old-time Norwich fans? ;)

Not bad Derek!!!

Danny became a dentist I believe, Geoff who was an All-American, is back in Alberta. Brian Leary was the losing goalie in the UWS 2OT National Semi-final. He was gone the next year in a band.
Danny and Geoff were both from Sylvan Lake, just down the the road from Red Deer, hometown of Mark Bolding, who was a senior in 95, and assistant in 96.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Tonights game was a very good team effort, as the lines where passing the puck around as a team. The 2nd goal of Chad,s was sweet as Scott caught the flip pass from Owen and set up Chad with a great pass. It seems what ever line you put Scott on he adds chemistry to it and they roll on. Scott has really picked up his game this year. It is nice too that his Parents are here from western Canada for this 5 game stint in 8 days.Parker Carrol played a very good squared up game in net tonight. On a lighter note it seems the 5 Pajama girls who sat right behind the Bowdoin bench in the 3rd period may have distracted the men in Black with there RED PAJAMA,S :D:D:D:D

Those were all members of the NU women's hockey team.

Great effort tonight by Norwich. Thoroughly impressed with how the club responded to some adversity, especially Anderson stepping up and leading by example.

Great comment about Schroeder. I agree completely. He should have been part of the 3 stars of the game. I screwed that one up. He played great on both ends, delivering a couple of bone-crushing checks as well as setting up both of Chad's goal.

Outshooting the #4 team in the country 42-17 is nothing to shake your fist at.

Defense was better tonight staying at home, blocking passing lanes and clearing out the front of the net and Carroll made a couple of great saves to keep Bowdoin off the board early. I referenced a couple in my recap on the Norwich website.

Great open-ice check by Carpino on his first shift returning to the lineup after missing the Plattsburgh game. Set the tone for the game.

I thought this was Norwich's best game all season. Hopefully they keep it going tomorrow to finish off the sweep.

Only disappointment was the crowd. 1534 for the #4 team in the country on a Friday night? :( depressing.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Norwich played the best game I have seen them play in a while-60 minutes of high tempo hockey against an excellent team (#4 in poll). The two teams played an even high tempo first period which saw Norwich score the only goal. After that it seemed like Norwich carried the play a bit more than Bowdoin as evidenced by the shots on goal-Norwich 42 and Bowdoin 17. The Allen goal late in the second period was the key to the game when he moved over to the middle and wristed a shot past Nerland in trafic. Norwich had some unbelievable shots and pressure on Nerland without a lot of success. Norwich's agressive checking could of been part of the reason Bowdoin slowed down some late in the game. Carroll also made a couple of key early saves.
