It bothers me that when the players solute the fans after the game, they have already left.

Me too, and some of them were the same ones that complained they didn't acknowledge the fans after the game. Plus that night, IMO it was insulting to all the players named to the tourney team.

Well, I know you're not talking about me. Even though we live in Georgia, my wife and I listen/watch every game until either WDEV or NSNsports pulls the plug. And we are wearing our Maroon & Gold too.

Norwich still has 13 of the 19 players who played against St. Norbers plus Matt McCann on who might of played in the NCAA's if not injured. I am not sure what this means but most fans thought Norwich would be almost as productive again this year. They lost a lot of leadership, 3 excellent defensement, and an All American goalie. For fans it will interesting to see how all this plays out the second half of the year. So far Norwich as learned that it is very difficult to defeat an upper level D3 team.
This situation with Norwich reminds me of the season SNC had to followup their Ntl Championship season:
1 -- Loss of only two players: Granted key contributors: Jones & Belanger.
2 -- Add quality new comers at all positions.
3 -- Return the bulk of their offense.
4 -- Return their entire D corp.
Expectations were sky high...looking for a return trip to the FF.
Didn't even make it to the NCAA's.
Could be multiple reasons why the season ended early:
1 -- Target on their backs each game. Every opponent wanted to knock off the Ntl Champions.
2 -- Play with a little less intensity.
3 -- Went to a two goalie rotation. Performance was inconsistent, especially after the year that Jones had.
Hard to pinpoint the exact reasons why this scenario played out for SNC.
I understand the frustration that the Norwich faithful are experiencing.
The season is still young. Plenty of time to turn it around.

Oswego suffered the same fate in 2008.

I think this pretty much sumes up the problems. Big target on their backs and yet to play with the intensity required to win at this level.

At the risk of being ostracized for defending the hawk, I think that is exactly what he means when he says that teams try harder against Norwich. Maybe the wrong wording, but that's the idea.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

IMO, everything noted is a factor - but the biggest factor by FAR - is the team's (any team) confidence in their goalie - Insufficient confidence and even the best teams succumb to “trying too hard”.

Re: Norwich Cadets Hockey 2010-2011: Title defense time.

Sure you can...Every team can skate 6 players on the ice at one time:-p

But you are only allowed one goalie at a time, so the other three would have to remove all their goalie gear and dress as skaters...

Espeicially considering the fact that you cannot dress more than 3 goalies in a game ;)

Enough with this dresses talk! The First Lady keeps pestering me about a ring as it is. ;)
