Norwich 2022-23 Back to Normal (ish)

Flint, anything to share from your perspective / interaction, etc?

Well, due to some travel, I was 10 minutes late to the party and the game was - for all intents and purposes - over.

Have to be excited about 6 goals. I know St A’s stinks, but a good team should score 6 on a bad one. Also, really exciting to see a shutout where all three goalies played.

Overall, I thought team speed was better than last year. Impressed with the size on the new guys.

I know there’s another exhibition, but I am so pumped for the Endicott game!

Does anybody know if there will be a broadcast of the Endicott game next week? I believe it is the season opener so there should be. I am laid up in a Rehab after a fall last month, watching a good hockey game is basically all I have to look forward to besides PT. The two exhibition games were shut outs I understand and the Cadet's scored 9 total goals between the 2 games. A better picture of the fire power of this years team will be the game vs Endicott. I am interested to know how the goalies are and who might be the strongest so far. Any insights to the team will be greatly appreaciated.

Schedule has link to video, so it is being broadcast.

I though #88 Walcarius was the best of the ones I saw in the two preseason games. He made some pretty nifty saves. Molu (#37) also looked good, as did Hains. No doubt it will come down to this week of practice, and really all three will probably get a start in the first few games.
Yeah, they got 9 goals, but IMO most of them were the results of some scramble type plays (by gifted athletes) more than any offensive system of scoring. Endicott will be a test for sure, and then off to the west the next weekend.

Aside from putting my kids down for bedtime, hoping to watch tonight's tilt from start to finish.

Should be a good one!

The game with Endicott showed real promise for Norwich. Last nights game vs Hobart was just the opposites. Passing left a lot to be desired, sometimes appearing to be desperate whacks at the puck with no receiver in sight. The power play was a powerless. I only saw one good sniper shot from Joe Nagle. Molu wasn't bad at all but the defense seemed incapable of clearing the puck away from the net. We had some good shots on net but Beaver played excellent. We still need more shots. It's very early and the team is still trying to find the best players at the right positions. I am positive that things will improve greatly over the next few games and when we see Hobart next it will be there their turn to play a hot team. Go Cadets.

Will be interesting to see how the team can respond vs. Elmira. Another very tough opponent in a tough place to play. Elmira was a little down last year but they've already got a win over Oswego and handled NEC pretty easily last night.

I thought the Elmira game was a better showing of the Cadets than the Hobart game. Maybe shaking off the 1st game bugs. Coach is giving everyone a chance to contend for starting positions. I thought Haines did alright, pretty much head to head with Molu. This was the hardest first two games of the season I can remember and maybe that setting the bar so high will be a benefit to all the new players. Let's see what this weekend brings with a regular contender UMB, and the not so successful Johnson and Wales. Both teams could pull out surprises if the Cadets play less than their best. Come on Cadets!

Opening vs #3 and #1, followed by another tough team in their barn is a tall task. I think the Cadets settle in this weekend. I anticipate continued improvement as the season goes on and the new guys gel. I’m quite optimistic that it’ll look different, regardless of outcome, when Norwich gets another crack at Hobart.

Nice to get a win in Kreitzberg tonight. UMB is always tough. Members of this board have been critical of the offensive output under Ellsworth. Gotta love seeing the scoring spread out the way it has been thus far this season. I think that offensive balance pays big dividends late in the season. I’m hoping for an offensive explosion tomorrow against JWU.
