Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

Re: Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

The fast food restaurants mentioned in this thread are in Plattsburgh (not sure why that discussion arose). In Northfield we have Subway or Subway or maybe Subway. In addition, we have several examples of what Guy Fieri would refer to as Dives in his "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives show.

Looking forward to seeing some teams I've never seen before, should be fun.
During my first FF trip to Northfield, I had a very nice breakfast at the diner on the right hand side of the road, coming into town from the South. Not sure what the name was.
They were very friendly, even with my SNC jacket and hat in clear view.
Wish I could be there this weekend....should be four very competitive games....

That was what used to be called the Red Kettle - now it's Village Pizza - but they still have the same breakfast menu. Lunch and dinner options are now more limited.

Not much you can say against 3 pretty enenly match teams. Depot Square Pizza restuarant at the common is a good inexpensive place to go if you want more than a sub and the ownership is very friendly.
Four EVENLY matched teams.

Fox 44 Burlington video of the Norwich/Nichols game including some good video of Norwich goals.

For some reason Norwich is having a difficult time scoring this year. I think one reason is every team playing Norwich treats the game like a playoff game and brings there best effort. It is generally hard to score in these situations. The Kyle Thomas injury is something to watch since so many of the Norwich forwards haven't scored much yet this year.

Adrien/Manhattanville-it seemed like Manhattanville playing in the ECAC West was more used to playing difficult competition and just kept the pressure on until the goals came late in the game. Adrien looked like a good D3 team similar to a lot of the good teams in the interlock.

Sarcasm intended because this hawk apparently does not beleive teams put out their best efforts each game, but save it up.

I will take the Castleton game as an example of a team puting forth a little more when they play the Cadets. When Castleton played Norwich in early December it looked liked they had been game planning and preparing for that game for a long time. It is no secret that Castleton considers beating Norwich as the biggest goal in there hockey season. Norwich on the other hand has Plattsburgh, Middlebury,
Bowdoin, and Primelink games that are all big games. All teams want to play at there A game against the NCAA champs to see how there program mathes up. Today it will be interesting to see if Nichols plays the same high intensity game against Adrien? And regardless how Norwich does against Manhattanville they have a trip accross the lake next Tuesday to face Plattsburgh.

I don't see teams "saving up effort", but I do see teams "looking past", what they and/or the general consensus perceives as a "lesser opponent". I can see how this could appear to be "saving it up", as I also have seen "lesser oponents" rise to the occassion (adrenaline?), where they could have been perceived as "saving it up".
