Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

Re: Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

It's not an excuse. It's a one reason factored into many. I am pretty sure I stated that before. Bottom line if M Ville joins the E East you will lose current teams from the E East. I am pretty sure this discussion came up over the summer/fall at the ECAC meetings. Bottom line coming out is what I posted above.:M Ville in at least 3 teams out.

I would expect that USM and UMB would go to the MASCAC as associate members and UNE would join the ECAC NE if Manhattanville were to join the ECAC East. There are many factors that determine what leagues teams choose to belong to. Travel is one factor, but not the only factor. I think it is highly unlikely that it would happen. The DII teams' ultimate fate really has no bearing on this, because there is nothing wrong, and a lot right with the 8 team set up that would ensue if they left/were kicked out.

Re: Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

And while Plattsburgh may put a few more $$$ into their program, an SM doesn't mind going to Middlebury (just 50 miles shorter) for a 1 game set....I'm sure the team could cut a few extra rolls of tape every other year for the extra gas....sorry the distance is a weak excuse.

I believe they only travel to Middlebury then because they are on break, and the coaching relationship.
Similarly, Norwich used to play Potsdam when the former Norwich assistant was the head coach there. Last year played-2001-02 seaason. Head coach left-2002.

And travel cost, as has been stated, would be only 1 factor in the discussion, and probably not the major one. After all, they would be replacing the trip to Clinton, NY (370 miles) with the one to Playland.

Re: Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

Game should be over by 6pm.....plenty of time to get cleaned up and go out NYE, come on Peach get with it :-)

Well, as a fan, I'd take the early game. I'll bet there are a lot of fans that will be opting whether to do New Years Eve or hockey. I'd prefer the early game then go home, clean up, rest up, then do the NYE events.

Norm after the State of Vermont gets through taxing us Tanglewoods just isn't in the budget. After Norwich games I have seen quite a few fans show up at Sarducci's which is always busy.

If I come over to Plattsburgh next Tuesday what you suggest for a lower priced restuarant before the game? I know Micky D is right a the corner as you turn on the road to the arena.

IMO, the "lowest priced reasonable deal, is the new Route 3 Taco Bell with its $2 meal combos (Soda, choice of taco/burrito/gordita and a bag of Doritos). Best "real meal" deal "close" to the rink - The Hungry Bear - typical homestyle cooking - to get there go west down Rugar (left) when exiting the arena until it ends at a red light "T" intersection (about a mile), turn right at the "T", it is about 1/4 mile down in the right.

I was looking at the stats to compare Manhattanville and Adrian, and this should be a fun one to watch, especially if the ref's let them play. Wish I could be there !!

Here's my breakdown.

Team Offense .....even
Team Defense ....Adrian +
Goaltending ........even
PP.....................even
PK.....................Adrian +
Discipline............even
Bus Ride............Manhattanville +
Big game experience..Manhattanville +

Final score 4-3............;)

Perkins at the Comfort Inn complex is really reasonable as well. You really get your moneys worth for the meals. (The deserts appear expensive though)

Re: Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

ALL THE GAMES in the tournament will be broadcast on the radio on the Northfield Savings Bank WDEV Norwich Hockey Network ... find the broadcast by going to WDEVRadio.com .

Re: Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

Charlie You are going to have to face it that Hawk will never get you that well earned steak at Capitol plaza. If you are lucky he may get you a frozen veggie burger with a coupon from Shaws since we now how frugal he is.:D:D:D

Re: Northfield Savings Bank Tournament Week is Here

Interesting we haven't heard a thing here from Adrian (They used to comment on everything), Manhattanville or Nichols fans ... are any of you out there?

You must have missed this one that was hidden by all the Restaurant Reviews !:)

Don't be alarmed though .....a lot of threads with Adrian in the discussion tend to get off track !:D

I'm picking Norwich over Nichols.......+/- = 3.5

Pretty sure they will return to Adrian (following the victory celebration);) ......however I'm not sure what route they would travel ?

When my daughter lived in Grand Rapids, the best driving route from Northfield was to cross over the border at Niagra Falls, go through Southern Ontario and reenter the US north of Detroit.
