Looks like the NMU "Jekyll & Hyde" Hockey team showed up tonite in Marquette for the NMU-Bowling Green game with BG blowing NMU out (5-1) in front of a sparce crowd of 1500 fans at The Berry Events Center.... NMU is now (3-7-1) on the season!!!!!!!!!!!

NMU at (3-8-1) and losers of their last 5 out of 6 games are headed into the "Beaver Pond" of Northern Minnesota this weekend to play #5 ranked Bemidji State (9-2-1) so it doesn't look good for Wildcat hockey fans or the team!!!!!!!!!!!

I was concerned that the creation of power conferences would hurt small school programs. A sweep, 1500 fans, and another sweep on the horizon. This is not good.

There's ability in that lineup, from what I've seen of the 'Cats this far is a problem with consistency.

Combined special teams has been a huge problem too. When you're 51st out of 60 in power play efficiency (9.4%) and 55th out of 60 in penalty kill (75%) that doesn't make things easy in a time period where the penalty box parade happens quickly.

There are players who have room to improve, and given some time I think they'll be a difficult team to play against for anyone. The trick is not being too far in the hole to make digging out impossible by the time it happens.

I agree that NMU has some quality players on the team this year and that's the perplexing thing about their record being (3-8-1).... Players like Shine, Hanson, Payne, Klimek, etc are top notch upperclassmen players and the young Freshmen Yaremko, Craighead, Peters, Beaulieu, Voltin, etc are very good young players as well.... NMU Soph Goalies Tolvanen & Israelsson and Soph Defenseman Vermeulen are also pretty good so it seems NMU has some decent players but it's not translating into wins this season.... NMU seems to have some talent on this team but for some reason they aren't winning games so it's been difficult watching them struggle so far this season....

Walt on the hot seat? He did better before and it seemed he was on that seat then. Now with the change in the type of contract he holds? Seems a lot of whispering going on.

That ain't no hot seat but a Ring of Fire in Marquette! Put up or shut up time has arrived. Nothing less than Conference Semi Finals or even Finals will keep the locals from pouring gasoline...
