Re: Northern Michigan University Wildcats 2016-17 Season Thread: Gotta Get Up And Try
NMU Hockey looks to rekindle offense at Wisconsin this weekend
November 2nd, 2016
MARQUETTE - The biggest struggle for the 2016-17 Northern Michigan hockey team (2-5-1) so far has been scoring goals. Right now, the team just hasn't been very consistent, but having a guy like Dominik Shine back in the lineup certainly helps.
One team the Wildcats did have success against offensively is the Wisconsin Badgers. Northern scored 8 goals in the two games they played against the Badgers (4-2-0) earlier in the season in Green Bay and this weekend, they meet again in Madison.
Coach Walt Kyle thinks the key for his team is getting off to a fast start.
"You have to generate offense from the minute the puck drops and if you can do something early and get one or two behind you then I think we have shown more of an ability to then throw some pucks in," said Kyle.
"We look at every game as if you're going out there to score goals. You gotta get more goals than the other team to win, right, so it's a big factor when coming into those games this weekend since we did score a few goals against them the first time we played them," added senior defenseman Brock Maschmeyer.
The puck drops in Madison Friday at 8 P.M. Eastern.
