Tough schedule to end the season, but they may be up to it. Might even watch online the next two weekends.

Here is a, maybe silly, question. Has it ever happened where a team had a start like NMU... then won out? Additionally, right now NMU is looking **** hot. Is it possible any coaches in the poll would cast a vote for a team with a losing record? This is projecting a hell of a lot here, but lets say they indeed do sweep Minnesota State Mankato next weekend (not saying shutouts... but that would be awesome). If they were to do that... they would still have a losing record. However, how could you not cast them in your top 25 at that point?

UAH went on a run at the final CHA season.

Why isn't there any audio (play by play) with the video highlights?

I don't remember the exact numbers, but Northeastern went on a pretty huge run last year in Hockey East.

UPDATE: On December 6, Northeastern was 2-12-3, 0-7-3 in Hockey East. By the time they won the conference championship, their overall record was 22-13-5, 14-7-4 in HE, if you include the conference tourney games in there. Now, that didn't include 5 straight shutouts, but still pretty impressive.

Maybe Providence in the 84-85 season. I remember them being a .500ish team that made it to the NCAA Championship game. Lost to RPI 2-1. I was in attendance. Yes, I'm old.

The town gave up on them (really 1775 attendance in Kraft Hockeyville USA to see the hottest team in the country and goalie setting a WCHA all time record Friday and tying a very long standing NCAA record Saturday.). The fans gave up on them and threw them and the coach under the bus. But one group never gave up when things were at their worst. Players & staff. And when I say "the fans," I do realize that there is a core group that has stuck with them through it all. A tap of the stick to you folks.

lots of great fans that have been with the team through the toughest times. Great that they were there to see records set, tied and battles for, Cats fans, you're the best!

With the exception of the Anchorage series as I was out of town, I've stuck out every single home game this year and a couple of road games. Definitely a tough first half to sit through. I think the fans that did show up last week were well aware of what was going on with Tolvanen. As I said in an earlier post, I felt excitement in the building for the first time in a while. If casual fans in Marquette missed it than its their loss. They're missing out on what's a fun team to watch right now going on a win streak with a goalie breaking records. The fans who have been there all season got to see it though and that's all that matters to me.

I only wish I could live and work closer to MQT to make it to more games.

Although, the season turn around did take place at the first game I made it to. :D

gotta give Walt credit, he tells it just like he sees it and it's refreshing after listening to the less than forthright coaches from the east, such as donato. Good for him for calling out the b1g.

Agreed. Great interview given by Walt. His comments on team's like Michigan having 22 games at home while NMU has 17 and how that affects PRI were spot on. Additionally, he hit on how the B1G schools bring in a lot of other smaller programs for the out of conference games. A large percentage of these programs non-conference schedule is at home. This not only affects there record, its often easier to win at home than it is on the road, it also affects the programs. Sure, it is great for Alumni to see their team when they come to the big city they live in, but it is better for the fan base at home to sell out the Berry when Michigan comes to town.

Walt is a very smart dude and has a great mind for hockey. I am hoping this turn around the team has had the past month has some sticking power.

Re: Northern Michigan University Wildcats 2016-17 Season Thread: Gotta Get Up And Try

Huge series this weekend with NMU (11-17-4) @ Minnesota-Mankato (16-10-4) that has playoff implications and has Tolvanen's shutout streak going on so what an exciting weekend for NMU Hockey fans....

Re: Northern Michigan University Wildcats 2016-17 Season Thread: Gotta Get Up And Try

The Mankato announcers are bad. Real bad. I wish WCHA.TV let us pick home or away commentary. I was decided they were bad. It was when they slaughtered the pronunciation of Houghton that I decided to post.

Also. Cats are not great tonight. Granted MSU-Mankato are tough. But not a good showing. Cats need to take more shots. So much passing. So little shot taking.
