That sums it up well. I doubt Jimmy cares a whit about the COY. Winning this tourney and/or playing in the NCAAs is significantly more important to him.

An award for the Assistant Coach of the Year would be important to a coach who wanted a gold star for his resume.

Weren't BC and Providence also projected to finish where they did though? It isn't like anyone made it under the "wildly exceeds expectations" category.

Well it's a little different when the #1 and #2 finish where they were projected. It is true, the preseason coaches poll was probably the closest to what actually happened in years.

That was the suggestion of Jim Connolly on his USCHO blog earlier in the week. I don't recall any NU partisans advocating for the award. Of course, if his lads win Hockey East and make inroads into the NCAA tourney ....

Madigan is indeed named the HEWBA Coach of the Year. Everyone can stop acting like it was a ridiculous notion and go back to your respective team threads now.

Besides that, we have ZAR on the 2nd team and Ruck on the rookie team.

wasnt anyone at nu.. outside fans have more blown madigan's trumpet for any kind of award.. than any of us consciously..
(except of course the frauds who troll on here recently & often)..
a lot of us were still critical of the team's start, me included, until before the playoff run & the blame lay with the coaching staff. kudos to them for turning it around thus far. that start however, might still cost us the ncaa.

for now.. who cares.. just finish the season strong and (hopefully) make the most of any chances in the post season.. the team has been fun to root for.

as for you carmine & others.. stop making ..then selling the kool aid on this or that award.. no at at nu (jm included) cares.
now win or lose.. on to the party.. :)

Good post!. Now it's off to the Gahden for some good hockey and perhaps some surprises.
