I should have thought more (or less) before I said that,My main concern is that,Witt get the start,I would be much more confident with him in net #GoNU

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Beanpot 'W' may still be a longshot Monday.. they're a good team.. and because we're NU.. it'll be one thing or the other..
but.. what the heck..
we're unranked, slim to no shot at NCAA, poor start & all.. what do we have to lose?
Just play & have fun boys.. win, lose, let chips fall where they fall. Team playing as a team right now & that is fun to follow.. Beanpot Monday, following wknd, & into the playoffs!..

almost time for new thread before this one gets locked up.. current title way more appropriate for the new thread.
:)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Does anyone know who the home team is Monday/when that is decided? If JM gets last change, I imagine he'll try to match Benning/Saucerman up with the Eichel line. No matter what, it's obviously advantage BU when Eichel/Rodrigues/O'Regan are on the ice. Huskies are going to have to put up a number to win but Roy, Szmatula and co. are capable.

We're apparently the home team. It was announced as such after the BC game at the Garden and I've seen it other places since then. No idea how it was picked though. I could have sworn it was a coin toss between us and BC sometime in the week leading up to the finals last year.

Why the talk of Witt being "exhausted" because he played tonight? I also had expected Roy, but I don't see the reason to raise an alarm. Even if he starts Monday, that'll be three games in seven days, which was preceded by 9 days off and at very worst it's still better than the countless time goalies play both nights of a weekend series. By the same logic, O'Connor played the weekend before the first round, 4 and a half periods against Harvard, tonight, and will play Monday and nobody's even mentioned it.

O'Connor did not play the weekend before the Harvard game.

Well it's BeanPot final time again, and we can all weigh in what we believe needs to be done to beat BU however let me be the 1st to tip my hat to JM as he made the right decisions and beat the master JY. To me it will be about 3 key items and here is by prediction and keys to the game
Our big guns need to play better than there big guns if not we will not win, Clay Witt must play a strong game and keep the score under 3 and last but not least we must be disciplined. If all 3 of these scenarios happen than the 28 year wait will be over if not than we will start to hope maybe year 29 to be our year. I have seen BU play they have some major weapons which we have not seen this year and in my opinion our top guys need to be better than there's plain and simple

For anyone in the Buffalo area - a few of us are meeting at Mes Que in North Buffalo for the game on Monday night. One of my teammates is the manager there, he checked and said they get NESN, and can put the game on. 1420 Hertel Ave., a couple doors down from the North Park theater.

I believe whichever team is in the 8 p.m. semifinal game -- which normally features last year's winner -- is considered the "home" team in the championship game.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

A whole lot of scrambling going on to reschedule venues all over the country and get the word out to the Beanpot-starved masses.

Nice piece. Pot d’Haricot.. :-)..
Too bad on this weather & the subsequent postponement..

..team had (has) good momentum going in. Sucks that we have to play in Orono X 2.. then make the trek down & play Monday at the Garden same wknd. All while our opponent is playing home & stays home all wknd. Eichel & co do not need any more advantage.
Well, be that as it may.. will make it that much more meaningful & special if we can pull out the elusive 'W'..

First things first.. UConn Huskies next. Go NU, keep it going!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

I've never been one to care much about the polls, but this week is definitely a bit confusing. NU got votes when they were still sub-.500, yet this week after beating BC and then finally climbing above .500, they don't get a single vote. Meanwhile, BC climbs one spot in the rankings after losing to NU and winning against a Merrimack team that has gone 4-5-1 in the new year after a first half of facing weaker out of conference opponents.

I guess that's why the say the only Pole that matters is the last one of the season.

100% agree. Can anyone who has a vote please explain this??

The Pole has the puck. He shoots. He scores!!! Poland is the NCAA Champion.

About these polls:
You are absolutely correct. If there was $ involved, I could understand a few funny ballots. I think some of the voters simply xerox their previous ballots and fax them in. What NU has is more valuable than these voters' approval. They have 5 wins and a tie against opponents in the "Top20" and two additional wins against teams who received votes. In two weeks, we plan to add a win over bu in the Beanpot. When we do win the pot, and we will, I still won't care if they vote for us!

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

If I were JM & Co., I might actually look on the vote snub as a blessing in disguise. Being able to go about your business at this time of year without having a target on your back is not a particularly bad thing.
