What a great win! Witt deserves the majority of the credit, think about it,If anyone else were in net it might have been radically different,of course the D and the forwards derserve credit too, alot of hustle all around, here are the video highlights courtesy PC Friars Hockey"

as far as all the talk about coaching/AD,as was wisely stated earlier if you have a "world class" University, you dont settle for a mediocrity that a school of far lesser stature would be naturally. And if you are an Alum,Student of loyal fan,YOU DONT PUT UP WITH IT.it's your responsibility to speak up and adjust your support accordingly.either way I'm thrilled for a win, even though things are not well there is a healthy dialog, that wants change and is supportive but wont settle for the status quo-you know who you are, keep up the good work!

I gotta say, the highlights of that PPG, I like that setup a lot. Similar to a 1-3-1 with how Hedges dropped from the point. I hope Keefe keeps it. PP has looked good since those QU games; bringing 2 guys to the point has helped a ton. As much as we trashed it based on last year, it has been working the last month plus

...whether it's coach, player, system, admin...short and sweet...it comes down to. Results.

Out of the mouths of babes.

BTW, keep up the great work with the DH. Band sounds awesome too.

I appreciate the kind words. Same to northeastern below. I'll pass them along to the band, I agree, they sound fantastic this season. Great to hear and see. This past summer a lot of time was spent with the athletic marketing department thinking up ways to bring back the energy. To this point, I'd like to think we've been successful. Credit to them as well, I couldn't do what I've done without them. Looking forward to the influx of NUin kids bringing more energy starting Jan 2.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Why hasnt Messa played? kid seems to be solid. Same with Jamieson.
If JM wanted to change things up, he'd give both a shot in game situation.
I know they won tonight, but im talking about the " big picture "

Jamieson is a club hockey player. Hard working kid, but not a HE player. I haven't seen Messa but I can't imagine he's great if Jamieson/Pond/Sikura have played over him. If your sentiment is you want to see more grit in the line-up, I'd agree in that I'd rather see Pond bang on the 4th line, than a 7th d-man who will play 6 minutes a game. I'm a big fan of Collier. Him with Reid provide a 4th line that might not score, but will play with a purpose.

I sat behind the net at the game yesterday. Good to see the team try and cycle, but it is still so obvious they are unbelievably poorly coached. There must have been 10+ times that our guys skated into each other behind the net because they had no idea where to be. Overall though, I was pleased with the effort yesterday.

I love how that is poorly coached, two kids skated into each other. You think that is the set up or were they in the wrong place? One guy doing something he wasn't supposed to do. I mean I know you have heard a lot of people say this before so it is cool to just repeat it, but this is not Sega hockey. He doesn't have them on remote controls, free will still exists.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Watched the game yesterday and saw another impressive effort. However some of us say "you could see how poorly this team was coached" because 2 players ran into each other hahaha. The team is starting to improve but this team must improve its consistency. The other issue I see is that the coaches must prepare like they did last night. JM must get the message to the team faster because when they are prepared well they respond. They have the talent. This teams scorers are starting to put the puck in the net. Roy, Hedges, Szmatula and Stevens are starting to hit there stride. It will be an interesting 2nd half. The 11 forwards was a smart move because as both coaches mentioned last night it gave our top guys more minutes. We truly have a solid core

This year, the team isnt have the season we all expected. Team isnt performing that well.
All im trying to say is JM should play all of the players on the roster whether a kids on a full ride or walk on.
Because right now, the current lineup isnt working.
Maybe a " walk on " could be a pleasent surprise in a game situation

It really doesnt matter if they dress 11 or 12 forwards, they can still give the top guys all the minutes they want. They can dress Pond and not play him too. Its how they have typically run their bench the last few seasons. Shortening it in the third period to play Roy every other shift.

Nice win. Score two goals and hold on. Now they need to back it up with a win against a UMASS team that gives up goals at a worse rate then we do. They will also be smarting from getting whipped by ND this past weekend. Hopefully they can leave that game with their first OCC win of the year.

"One guy doing something he wasn't supposed to do". When this happens once, its on the player. When this happens repeatedly over and over again, it's on the coaching. And it's not just that two guys skated into each other often. When you watch, you realize, with the exception of a couple players, they don't know what they're doing without the puck. To some gifted kids, that's something that comes naturally, but most college kids need to be coached on where to be in offensive zone situations when they don't have the puck. They're used to juniors or high school where they had the puck on their stick more, and haven't developed that part of the game. This is not me repeating what anybody else has said, this is me witnessing something with my own eyes and giving my 2 cents.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

While we've all been fixated on BC and BU, Harvard (remember them?) has quietly taken over 5th place in the uscho.com national poll.

Not fixated on either of those schools.. just fixated on our program. Happy for Albie @ Harvard though. Our loss.. actually, I should say.. current HC's loss in not being able to keep him.

I am sure Albie is happy, cause he is coaching the #2 BU team.

..like I said, when he left us.. he left us for HU. I did not keep up with where he is now. We lost some good coaches in Cronin, Albie (even Sebastien).. I'm focused on our program.. & our program (current coach/ 'coaching') needs a lot of focusing on!.. :)
its not his 1st, 2nd or 3rd yr either.. Other programs with changes back then, seem to be doing just fine.. as are Albie & Cronin. Good for them. (what about us). ..cue in the apologists..

Yes he did leave for Harvard. He is no longer there, he may or may not be happy for Harvard. I do not understand anything else you said here.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

ICYMI, Northeastern earlier today announced a hoops/hockey doubleheader with Michigan State at Matthews for Dec. 19, 2015. Hoops in the afternoon; hockey at night. Northeastern travels to East Lansing to return the favor in 2016.

I like it.

I love it. JM announced it at the FOH meeting this year, I'm stoked that it is official. All around win for the athletic department. Should be a lot of fun
