Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

I suspect the familiarity with this situation comes from connections with the prospective coach (as opposed to NU connections).

Do you have any inside knowledge of this story, I've never before seen you (or any other random fan) defend one of Hoky's rumors du jour like this?

Having gone to graduate school at NU, I periodically look at the NU thread. When I read the recent posts about the NU-PC game, some of "Hokydad's" observations began to make a lot of sense.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

CHC's been joking about this from day one (just actually read his posts.. ! hilarious btw!..).. however.. I can only wish Hoky on the other hand.. be right about some /all part.. about change coming nxt season..

I may very well be off base on this situation but I'm not joking. I'm certainly not the only follower of the forum who has wondered about the credibility of
"Hokydad's" posts. However, if he is who I suspect he is, his observations are much more credible than not.

For what it is worth, I know straight from a friend who spoke to Cronin last year year that he regrets leaving NU, if he could do it again he would have stayed, said his temper get the better of him and he made a harsh decision.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

Yes it might be coaching, but im wary of falling all over each other believing Hokydad's prophetic utterances, I dont know who he is, but Consider his track record, in 2011 He was quoted that Dennehy would be coming to NU, how did that work out?
I really want him to be right about Gordon but it seems to good to be true and as ive pointed out theres a question about accuracy at the least

lets see how the coaching responds SAT. @PC they knew us like a book, if our coaching is any good we will win if not same old song and dance,

#GoNU :-)

It’s not even worth a Bitcoin! Leaving NU was the best coaching decision Greg Cronin ever made. He now coaches the hottest team in the NHL; located at the media capital of the World. He could not be happier.

Hoky's hit rate on NU hockey stuff is pretty low. I have no idea what it is on other programs. But he is typically off with NU stuff. Still waiting for his donation to the program after being wrong about Collier.

Was not wrong on Collier. Said it was not a done deal as stated. thrilled it worked out but it had to go thru waiver process, was not approved until weeks after it was stated here it was done.

Very happy for Collier.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

I know season tix holders who did not (will not) renew until the clownfest is done with.

I am one of them. Been a season ticket holder since the year I graduated (and paid for Varsity Club when that was an option), but will no longer entertain the thought of throwing my money away on a program that obviously has no qualified leadership or will to win. The sad thing is, I don't need this team to make the NCAAs every season to enjoy rooting for them; I just need them to show SOME competency and willingness to at least TRY competing with the best. Some element of success is eventually necessary to have a fan base that roots for a team beyond feeling obligated to do so based on having graduated from the school.

Those seats in the front row are up for grabs.

I agree with you, but there has been very little success here ever. That is why there is a small dedicated fan base. Winning brings fans, BU, BC same thing. I will continue to root for them whoever the coach is and whatever the current record is.

...I will continue to root for them whoever the coach is and whatever the current record is.

Me too!

But that does not mean that the small, dedicated fan base should continue to passively standby and stoically endure the national embarrassment that the program we all love has become. If it takes bombarding the inboxes of the powers that be with messages expressing outrage over the state of the program, then do it. And if wallets close because donors are concerned over whether or not donations are being productively spent, then so be it.

To quote Flo (the Progressive Lady), These are troubling times in the kingdom.

IMO, Hedges has been the most consistent forward for NU. Size could be an issue, but the kid is a stud!

I guess what I am failing to see is what is any different than any other years? They have up and down seasons, its not like NU has been historically a power and has fallen on hard times. There is not 1 kid on NU roster whose dream it was to play for NU. Can't say that about BU or BC. I have been saying for 20 years, they shouldn't be this bad all the time. But maybe that is who they are, and who they always will be. Coach's change, name on the jersey's change, results stay the same. This is not a play to keep the coach, come or go, nothing ever changes. I expect the 2016 recruits to start decommitting as it become more of a question if this staff will be here when they get here. That is too bad cause I think that is the class with a lot of talent.

Such a crock of BS. You think every kid on those rosters dreamed of playing for those schools? Yeah, maybe a few of them, but the rest went there because of the coaches. How many kids dream of playing at PC, Merrimack or UML? Yet those school are now light years ahead of where we should be. Why? Coaching! Remember when JM took over, new coaches came in at PC and UML too, and their rosters had done nothing the year before, and now look at where they are and where we are!

It has NOTHING to do with the last 20 years! Or the last 40 years! It has to do with who is in control now, and what they are doing and what they can do! And our current staff has proved there is more the CANT do then what they CAN do.

In calendar year 2014 this team has 12 wins 18 losses and two ties. Of those 12 wins, 5 came last January. Since Feb 2 this team has gone 7-16-2. That is the problem. And outside of Adam Reid and Clay Witt, they are his recruits. So why even stress future recruits they may lose, when chances are they wont be any better then what he has brought in to begin with?

If JM is actually leaving after this season, why is everyone so acceptable about hiring one guy? I wold think it would be in your best interest to publish the job nationally and see who applies. No? You already found your dream coach?

First off I would put it at 75/25 that he is here next year, and someone just dropped a name in here. I agree, if they are looking for a coach open it up and find the best possible guy.

I agree with on the Lowell, and PC fronts. That is a black eye for this staff right now, also previous staffs as I always wonder why Lowell is better than NU. Which they are always are. On the BU and BC thing, maybe all of them didn't, but there are more on those rosters who are there cause it was there dream than the kids at NU.

We have different views, I look at it historically and say that this is the natural order of NU hockey, I don't understand how you can't look at the past and see that. You think that this is the HUB of college hockey and that its all on the coach who swats away the great talent and grabs his guys. I didn't here Jack Eichel mention NU was on his list? He is at BU for 1 reason, it was his dream as a kid. Otherwise he would be in Canada, same as Hannifan at BC.

Doesn't mean NU can't be better, but you are what you are. I still think JM is the right man for the job, I think overall they will be better, but they will never be what you guys think in your head NU can be.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2014-15: Release the Hounds!

I have been Huskies fan on and off since we had Fernie, andim not claiming to have the deep knowledge that the top posters here, nor do Oi have any ties to NU as a Student, yes ive had the great pleasure of becoming friends with other fans, but I have no ties, and did not choose to root for NU simply because of the work ethic, they NU didnt have the arrogance that some teams have, and central with those reasons was that they were always the underdogs, when NU has a great game/year its really meaningful and the victories are sweet, how can the school keep fans like me, if the AD and school, a very wealthy school to boot DOES NOT CARE about the program, and the former students are divided as to whether to speak up or just be satisfied with mediocrity, even Silber, who didnt like the hockey program at BU realized that Boston is a hockey town and that He would be an idiot not to support the program, it absolute insanity that given NU's resources that they shoudnt always be a contender with hardware, my rant is based in love for the team, fans and school, but I have to ask, are fans like me foolish to stick by this team that at its levels of power doesnt have any desire to improve ever and many of the people that do care will refuse to reassign Jim Madigan to a different job at the school because hes a great guy, im sure he is, but he cant coach, stop defending him, he will be fine and always have a job here, why should anyone like myself follow this team?
