Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Man, i feel bad for you. We have been getting under your skin for a long time huh? Guess what? we will continue to, have fun being miserable watching it..............so, yeah, Man, i really feel bad for you. Why dont you come to Conte Forum and see our pile of trophies? Now, that will really get under your skin. Of course we cant display them all because you would have to build an addition to Conte.......................... "One in a million deflections" ? you really know your stuff, Man

Wow, a bit sensitive aren't we when someone shows disdain for your school. Patrick Brown deflecting the puck into the net while being on his behind was an unreal play don't get me wrong but 9 out of 10 time that doesn't deflect into the net, simply it was a perfect deflection from an extremely difficult position (perhaps I should have said a 1 in 10 deflection since apparently you take hyperbole as literal). Congrats on your triumphs in the past and yes I have seen the many trophies at Conte this year when I went to the Duke-BC basketball game which I thought was supposed to be a home game for BC but nothing but a sea of Duke blue there. Thank you for living up to the entitled and arrogant BC stereotype and if I feel the need to discuss something your smug fan base I know where the BC thread is. Sorry NU fans, didn't mean to put some unnecessary BC rubbish on your board. My initial post was simply reflecting on the negativity and down time you guys are having now and how 2 weeks ago things were looking bleak for PC as well. Like I said before good luck vs UNH.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

I posted a concern awhile back that CW hasn't seemed to be his old self ever since the freakish deflection in the waning minutes of the Beanpot.

Now I read over on DHD that both of the Ferreiro brothers apparently quit the team right after the Beanpot. So I'm left to wonder if there aren't internal issues that might be playing out on the ice.

Yeah that does not explain the Maine series where they did so much right, include block shots for a change.

As for the Ferreiro brothers, sad that Cody's career had to end like this, I think we could all throw some things out that could have happened, but not fair to anyone involved. Its a good thing Pimm stepped up and scored the goals that I figured they would get from Cody this year, otherwise where would this team be?

BUT - i have not been one to cry about the play of Roy this season but I am beginning to wonder about him. I was hoping that pairing him with Szmatula would help him get energized again, but has it really? Or was this just an off week? And yeah, I agree that them together only gives you one scoring line and three lines of grinders, but I think you gotta keep them together. I do wonder if that one period suspension that Roy got earlier on this season turned him off a bit.

...Thank you for living up to the entitled and arrogant BC stereotype....

When I was out in South Bend several weekends ago, I was told by more than one Domer that the only fan bases they didn't have at least some modicum of respect for were Southern Cal and.....(surprise)....BC. The adjective "arrogant" in its various forms along with several synonyms were mentioned extensively.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

I was just wondering if anyone heard Madigan's comments after last nights game? I was curious what his take on this past weekend was, besides the "lack of effort" excuse he typically has. Also, is anyone else concerned that he never actually appears to be coaching behind the bench? While David Quinn and opposing coaches are drawing up plays during the timeouts, Madigan just seems to be standing there watching Jerry Keefe or Pat Foley draw up the plans. Maybe its just me, but the only time I see him say anything is when he is screaming at the refs.

Its been mentioned multiple times before, but you do see that alot. the HC lets the assistants draw up the plays. The Bruins are like at times too.

Maybe its because he's not a good coach? He's not sure what to do? Over his head?

I have always been very critical of Madigan and I still don't think he's a good coach. However he has proven that he is a very good recruiter. And that puts the program in a very tough spot. You have to keep him as head coach for the recruiting. But we're really in a jam when it comes to performance on the ice and in season motivation, etc.

I would also give credit to the infamous Beanpot Swoon. In years that we get within 5 minutes of a beanpot championship it has to be worse. Until we win that **** thing, February is going to be brutal each and every year.

Oh and I blame Roby the most.

I'm not the "brightest bulb on the tree" here, but what happened to Cody Ferriero on Senior night? just realized He is a Senior and all the other young men were honored but no Cody? I remember when Vermeerrsch had some issues, but what about Cody,he's a good kid from a good family and wasnt sure what happened to him.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Didn't get any help today from Ohio state. NU to #15. I don't feel like saying much except that I know em everyone here likes to blame the coach. But to the players get any of the fault in this I mean they're the ones that showed up and did nothing in the biggest series of the season. They ****ed up their entire season everything they worked for in one weekend. I have never been upset about a lost 24 hours after it but I still am

There is no doubt that the players deserve the majority of the blame for this weekend's debacle. I don't know how the team doesn't get amped up for a series against your crosstown rivals with a first round bye and home ice on the line. I think it is becoming apparent that there are only three or four players on the team with scoring ability, the rest are grinders who rely on garbage goals or softies to get their name on the scoresheet.

It doesn't help that guys who were contributing at the beginning of the season (i.e. Snydeman) have disappeared in the second half.

Hopefully this two week break gets them refocused.

Yah, what has happened to this kid? I mean he has pretty much done nothing in his career, but he seems to have just disappeared.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2013-14 Season Thread II: In Witt we Trust

Rooting for UMass and BU this weekend. Hopefully Michigan State can atleast split with Michigan. But all of this matters for nothing if NU can't pull it out against UNH.

As for the Ferreiro brothers, sad that Cody's career had to end like this

We take Cody Ferriero from BC, they take the best college player since Paul Kariya from us. If that isn't the best microcosm of the two programs, I don't know what is. Also, Cody quitting appears pretty gutless to me. You've stuck it out for 3 and a half years and now you finally get to play in the HE playoffs and possibly the NCAA tournament. Wish you could take his talent and give it to kids like Rob Rassey, Chris Donovan and Tanner Pond.

I had noticed some of the chatter on this thread about him and emailed a buddy of mine about this topic this morning. BC really dodged a bullet with him. You could tell this kid was a mope the minute he started chatting with the papers about his decommitment from BC. He said one thing, then another that contradicted it, then went back to the original story. Sounded about as bright as Chris Bourque. BC giving him a 2 for 4 was a good deal for him. He might have done well here with that and could have played his way into a third year of scholarship money (possibly all 4 depending on early departures). Instead he got drafted a little high by an organization well-known for overdrafting on the college kids (Dan Spang, NU's own Mike Morris I believe, etc) and got a bigger impression of himself than the reality of the situation, went to NU, got himself suspended a few times, and aside from scoring 4 or 5 goals in 1 game, pretty much was invisible. If he did in fact quit, that is just ridiculous. Doesn't seem like a high character kid and never did. A shame; his older brother was the exact opposite.

Did he quit? Is that what happened?

1) tl;dr
2) I always enjoy it when fans of $50,000-a-year private schools call BC spoiled, entitled, arrogant, make references to daddy's money, etc. lol. I guess the $992 per year difference in tuition is the difference between Thurston Howell III and the salt of the earth.

At least NU gets a pass on that one since most of the current NU alumni fanbase probably went there when it was mostly a commuter school.

Anyway, shame about Cody Ferriero. Such wasted potential, as he's clearly a very skilled player.
