Northeastern Huskies 2012 Offseason

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2012 Offseason

congrats to the huskies. may he be as wildly successful as the last recruit you got who lead the ushl in scoring!

11 goals and 11 assists and a unanimous selection to the Hockey East all Rookie Team? IF Roy can do that at a minimum, yeah, I would consider that successful.

He would just need to double it his sophomore year, something that player you are talking about did not do.

Costello didn't have the raw skill that Roy has, plus he barely led the USHL in scoring. He had 76 points in 59 games and Trevor Lewis that season had 75 in 56. Roy had 104 in 59 games. The next closest was 88.

Roy's going to be a great NCAA player. Good that he has some Lincoln teammates coming in this year and next.

"barely led the USHL in scoring"?

Hello......

I was not comparing the two players, just reminding that bc poster below that the guy that came in was not a total "bust".

I have no idea what Roy is going to do his freshmen year. I will assume that he is probably going to have a bit rougher start then people think. (along with the kid down at PC). Size and strength right off the bat are going to be something he has to deal with. Remember, one of the reasons he is going this route is because he wants to get stronger. Makes me wish a bit we had a Cummings on this team to keep thing legit out there, unless Manno wants to take that role, but he is going to be a scorer this year so I hope its not him.

Look, I wish he would come in here and do what little goo did, but Roy is also not surrounded with the amount of talent that little goo was last year. That is not a shot at NU players, just fact. No one on our current team is going to from this season to a NHL team and play for them into the conference finals. I think Roy IS going to come in and make a difference to this team. We can now roll out 2-3 good scoring lines, which we could not before. I think he takes us from being in a real battle for the playoffs into sniffing at the 4th seed, and probably ending up 6th.

Let me say this, I would not be disappointed if he does not break 30 points. Its hard to be a point per game player right off the bat. That is why if he replicated what Costello did, I would not consider it a bad season, but an excellent jumping off point for a hopeful three year career at the minimum.

Eh, I'm not worried about his size. Gaudreau is even smaller and even if he wasn't on BC he would've stood out. He also just turned 19 so he won't be the youngest player on the ice. He's got tons of offensive talent. I expect him to be better than Costello in 2006. Scott Wilson is listed at 6'0 175. That's a couple inches taller and the same weight.

Boy the NU Dogpound sure is excited with this Roy news.

Either way, nice to keep a kid like this in the college ranks rather than have him bolt for the border.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2012 Offseason

Thought some of y'all might have an interest in seeing this. It's a blog post from today's Burlington Free Press. Apparently, UVM was never in the running for the Roy brothers. I'm a little surprised--thought we would have been in a full-court-press trying to get them. Says Sneddon never even talked to Kevin Roy.

Dog House. And after you stole Gaudreau from us last year we should be...

(that's 100% sarcasm by the way)

Umm Nick.....The Dog Pound is located somewhere off of a nondescript section of lower Commonwealth Ave; the Doghouse is located in an historic art-deco building on beautiful St. Botolph St. C'mon man, you really need to keep straight on the really important things in life. :D

Thank you for straightening that out for our visitor. The term "beautiful" is the proper adjective.:)

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2012 Offseason

..no thanks. we're jinxed as is
.. i still remember a certain exhibition gm & a certain montreal draft pick couple seasons ago..

From my viewpoint, wishing the team a competitive (and healthy), season..

Jason Cotton, the center we recently committed was selected to the USA U-18 Select Team to compete in the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2012 Offseason

Anyone else get the letter in the mail about the Varsity Club? Looks like, once again, they are going to try to crack down on people that are allowed to get in to the club. I dont really mind, seeing as I donate and usually have to wait in a long line to get a beer while other clowns just stroll in and get the same service. What bothers me is for my $500 donation, i only get to bring 1 person in with me. Seems like 2 guests would be more appropriate. Also, what are the chances that mid way through the season, the flood gates just open and nobody cares anymore. Discuss.....

I am happy that they say they are going to strictly enforce the Makris Room policy. They have tightened things up in past years only to "loose focus" on enforcing the policy as the season progresses.
I am not happy about the one guest limit at the $500 level. In my opinion it is bad timing. Make the policy change when they are winning. I made a few phone calls and some people at NU had no idea that the policy has been changed for next season. I felt my conversation with the people at the newly named Huskies Fund fell on deaf ears.

Change this policy when the team is winning....
