NorthEastern Huskies 2011 -Improved

Northeastern seems to added some offense (coyne, top 92 recruit) and should put up more points, Goaltending and defense improved as well.
Rosters that stay healthy will benefit down the stretch and into playoffs. Hockey East should be exciting this season.

Re: NorthEastern Huskies 2011 -Improved

Agree. Very nice recruiting class by Coach Flint and his assistants. There are quite a few freshman that will be counted to not only add depth but to jump right in and be impact players. It should be a fun year to watch!

Speaking of watching, NU home games are broadcast live online but in a big change, this year they are FREE to watch. Broadcasts start next Friday, September 23rd at 7pm with an exhibition against the University of Ottawa.

Suspect that that exhibition match is against the Ottawa Sens PW team, and not vs the Ottawa U Gee Gees.

You are probably right. I was just going by what was listed on the broadcast schedule at gonu.tv

Re: NorthEastern Huskies 2011 -Improved

2011 RANKINGS POLLS NU gets the 12th spot in rankings.
They have 33 games on schedule. They play 12 times against teams ranked in the polls 1-11 spot.
Hockey East will have some strong competition this season.

Re: NorthEastern Huskies 2011 -Improved

Y'all probably all already knew this, but I didn't - apparently since last season the Columbus street parking lot has been open for women's games as well as men's.

Re: NorthEastern Huskies 2011 -Improved

Ottawa looked good in the First period , Nu was stronger up front (Faster) and the defense was not really challenged.
Broke it open in the 2nd and put in some nice goals.. Final NU 6 - Ottawa 0 . Oct 7 Syracuse and Oct 8 Colgate.

Re: NorthEastern Huskies 2011 -Improved

Nice Pictures , Team looks relaxed. This Weekend is a Bye Syracuse and Colgate next weekend 10/7 -10/8
Syracuse opens tomorrow with Minnesota , that should wake them up for next weekend . Huskies tied 4-4 last year.
Syracuse top point player defected to BU, Isabel Menard 44 points . Colagate also had a transfer to Wic. Jorden Brickner.

Great opening weekend for the Huntington Hounds!!! After a few years of rebuilding, Coach Flint appears to have successfully returned this team to it's championship caliber and it appears to be a top contender!!! This season should be an enjoyable one to watch once again!! Go Huskies!!!:D

While I agree with you, it is difficult to say much after one weekend, because fast starts have been the norm in the Flint era at NU. The Huskies started 6-1-2, 8-1-2, and 6-1-2 the last three seasons, so they don't lose much in October.

I think it is more the style that they are playing. In the previous hot starts it was closer and they didn't have the depth they seem to have now.

Good point and I'de have to agree with you. In the past 3 or 4 seasons they had a few point getters and only a couple of players who could really be called "Goal Scorers." This years roster appears to be much deeper as there are about 15 different players who've tallied points so far counting the preseason and first two games. It is true that the first weekend does not a season make, but this years NU lineup appears to be very strong on multiple disciplines of the game!!!

Oh I'm not ordering champagne yet based on one weekend. But I am excited for a good showing in my last year as a student.

It's also great to see so many talented freshmen getting into the scoring mix. And highly touted freshman D Colleen Murphy was out with a minor injury. She'll be back in action this week!
