Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

My, how far we've come since Jan 18:

Just for those of you keeping score at home:

1.88/.932 (2.00/.932)
2.44/.919 (2.71/.919)

So my question is, and please pardon the intrusion, how does it feel to be THAT wrong? How has making a statement so amusingly outlandish and ridiculous worked out? Just curious.

Mister short short man is back.

Rawlings had one bad night on a stage that Carr will never, ever see. Do me a favor, throw up their last two seasons combined. Oh, wait, that's right, Carr was sporting 3.63/.896 to Rawlings, 2.68/9.20. Bye-bye.

Only one? Did you forget the 7 he let in during last year's Beanpot final?

Career numbers:

Rawlings 2.72/.917, .500 winning percentage in 91 games
Carr 2.71/.913, .549 winning percentage in 43 games

So, despite starting a majority of games for a team that won only 5 games, he STILL has a better winning percentage and nearly identical GAA/Save Pct numbers to Rawlings. Rawlings also never had single-season numbers that come anywhere close to what Carr is putting up this year. Bye-bye.

I did not forget, I was there. I was also there when he gave up that many later on that year to BC. Enjoy your once in a decade season, and make sure to thank NU if you get a high seed in the NCAA tournament for what we managed to accomplish in OCC games. Without us, you would be nowhere. FACT. bye-bye.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

When was your once in a decade season?

NCAA tournament three years ago. Semi Finals at the garden two out of the last three years. Won a playoff series on the road at bu. My memory maybe slipping, but I think Clinton might have been in office the last time you guys sniffed the NCAA tournament. Like I said, enjoy your once in a decade season.

Remind me again, when you guys made it to the Garden in 2009, who did you lose to? That's what I thought.

If by "big stage Carr will never, ever see" you mean "yearly televised humiliation at the hands of the legit Boston programs, unless it's that every third year we draw Harvard and have a shot" tournament, then yes. He will never play in one of those.

I know BC wasn't up to their FF standards last year, could only win Beanpot, HE RS, & HE tourney but 2 of 3 NCs the years before was pretty good I guess.

Your once in a decade season was a loss in the Beanpot Finals, loss in HE semis, knocked out in the first round.

You're knocking Lowell and their goalie as they are in 1 point out of 1st, beat you 2 out of 3, & their goalie has the best stats in HE. All of this after your team dropped a huge deuce on the biggest stage you'll play on all year meaning for the 24th(?) straight year you won't win a 4 team tournament.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

..sadly they do come once in a while for us as well.. the '94 NCAA quarterfinals..
the 2009 NCAAs.. couple decent Garden appearances.. sure i missed one other decent season here or there..

alas, that is why Cronin & co. (now Madigan et al.) were brought in... to change the status quo.
it took the Bruins close to 40 years.. God hope it does not take the Huskies that long to win another Beanpot or significant NCAA ride & beyond... if the Alumni do not speak up & forces within do not make the right moves.. it might.. it might not..
Going to be here for my team, either way..

And what's up with you Lowell fans.. you guys used to be on our side.. i sure will be happy if you guys made some noise end / post season & beyond.. underdogs doing well/ parity is awesome for any sport.. especially our sport where it seems its the same 5 odd names each season. G'luck :)

Isn't it ironic that you don't like anyone knocking your team that is "1 point out of 1st, beat you 2 out of 3, & their goalie has the best stats in HE" . . . I mean the '08-'09 NU team only finished with 39 pts, 1 point behind BU, beat you 3 of 4 games, and had a goalie who was 1st in save percentage by a good margin, led the HEA in wins and shutouts and finished second in GAA. Clearly they were far inferior to your amazing "once in a decade team" which has yet to win anything of substance. Come back at the end of the year, win the HE tourney or win your regional in the NCAA's and then I'll tip my hat and say that your team this year was better than NU in '08-'09

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

Why are we getting into a ****ing match with Lowell? Both programs are irrelevant. One good season doesn't change that.

Uh...., so I see no one here has been smart enough to figure out which posters are fans of which teams. Carry on.

Congrats, NU beat Lowell 3 out of 4 games in 2008-09. They only lost the one game that mattered. As for "once in a decade", exactly what has NU done aside from 2009? Since Hockey East formed, that was NU's 3rd trip to the NCAAs, which matched Lowell's total over the same span. It only took 15 years for you to catch up. It's been 24 years since you won a Beanpot, and 24 years since you even made it to the Hockey East title game. Granted, you did win it in 1988, which is 1 more than Lowell, but Lowell's at least been to the title game twice since NU last did. Making it to the Garden twice recently? Congrats, that makes 6 times in 27 years, exactly half as many times as Lowell. BTW, what happened in that other season over the last 3? Oh yeah, you missed the playoffs entirely, something you've done more than Lowell has as well.

Let's face it, neither of these teams are in "The Big Four", but in nearly every comparison between Lowell and Northeastern over the history of this league, Lowell wins hands down. All time, the series stands at 55 wins for Lowell, 40 for Northeastern, and 7 ties. Heck, in your own building, Lowell leads 27-20-5. Fact, not opinion.

Re: Northeastern Huskies 2011-2012 Season Thread: Year of the Mad Dog

Here is what it comes down to. The UML fans need our blessing in order to feel like they have accomplished something this year. Their season just wont feel right unless Huskies01 and the rest of the dedicated NU fan base tells them how great they are. They have some kind of inferiority complex that makes them keep coming back to our NU thread looking for some kind of redemption or maybe roses, I do not know.

Merrimack fans did not need to do this when they got good. UVM fans never pop in here. Did NU fans pop into your threads the past few years telling you how great we are looking fishing desperately for compliments like the few of you are constantly doing? No. Wanna know why? Cause nobody gives a rats behind what UML fans think, plus, and more importantly, we had faith in our team and did not need your stamp of approval, we knew it.

Look, we are not going to kiss some magical ring because your team managed to keep the puck out of the net this year. I still see your team as flawed. One that has had done well this year at catching teams when they are down and not playing well. Like Maine for example. And the bu game. Credit, you won those game. But I still saw 6 periods where NU skated circles around you and did everything but finish. I again watched your team wilt in the third period against UVM Saturday night when they pulled their goalie and scored. (see, it works even though the come back did not make it all the way)

So again, enjoy your finest season in decades. If we meet again, feel free to set up another game thread. Otherwise go crawl back to your thread and leave us NU fans to our own devices.

Yup, that's it. You nailed it.

OR....

It could be, and this is just me thinking out loud, that a certain foolish Husky fan (yourself) thought that by taking shots at Lowell in every thread he posted in it would somehow validate his garbage squad and their chances going into the backstretch of the league season.

When you were called on your mountainous pile of BS you, to your credit stuck to your guns. Lowell is smoke and mirrors. Lowell is unimpressive. Bitetto is better than Ruhwedel (HA!), Karlsson is going to win ROTY over Wilson (LMAO!) and Rawlings is better than Carr (I just spit water all over my screen. Your fault).

Listen, if you want to go around and troll and make outrageous claims about a team so superior to your own that it's borderline pathetic, feel free. But to sit there and pout and say go away when you get called out and every stupid comment you typed is proven to be total bullsh*t is just being a sore loser. Lowell has one of the top goalies in the country. They currently have the 6th best scoring offense and the 6th best scoring defense in the country. They have seven players with 20 points or more and an 8th knocking on the door with 19. That's not a fluke. That's not a lucky season. That's having a great team with amazing depth. That's playing well in all three zones.

Enjoy next Monday's consolation game. It's the last time your sorry squad will see the Garden until next year's annual beating at the hands of three vastly superior Boston schools.

Yes, I did. And, um, your in my thread. That would make you the troll. And you proved my point, again. No wonder you went to Lowell.
