Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

A little OT but have you guys been watching 24/7 leading up to the Winter Classic?

Cro got some airtime on the last show. I'm motivated by the guy. We really f%$ked that up. I realize he would have left anyway but he's a gem! Love that guy!

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Manson was -4

And he was on the ice for all 6 even strength Dartmouth goals. That has to be some kind of NU record. He is a natural forward who has been moved back to defense because somebody determined that was his best path to the NHL. Well, the experiment is not working and it is time to move him back up to forward. He would be great as a winger on the checking line with Pond and Reid. Imagine those three coming at you. Slide Schechter into the open D spot and give it a try.

Yeah let's ignore that he was leading the team by a substantial amount in plus/minus going into this weekend. He was like a +14 while the next closest was +8. Ignore that he held Gaudreau in check...Manson has been great all year, this weekend was an aberration for the entire team. We just blanked UVM, I mean an 8-8 game vs. Dartmouth, this weekend was rust coming off. I expect things to be back to business vs. UMass.

He was +12 after the first 5 games against Alabama Huntsville, Holy Cross and St. Lawrence. He is -4 since then. Statistics can be tricky. He is a good hockey player, but watch him play. He is a natural forward in the way he takes angles and makes hits. That is not a good or bad thing, it just is what it is. Play him in his natural position and he will help the team win Hockey East games during the grueling dog days of January, February and March. This team has great potential if the coaching catches up with the talent.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Does anyone know why we have UMass/UVM games as OOC games this year? I imagine this was discussed when the schedule was released, I just can't remember any reason that was said. Just issues getting non-HE opponents?

Looking forward to tomorrow's game, expecting the D to actually show up and for Witt to bounce back strong.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Vermont had to make the trip anyway so why not stay for two games. Umass is a mystery to me, but we still have to win it for self confidence/respect. If we treat it like a meaningless game (see Ledyard Tournament), there no telling what the outcome may be.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Team still looked bit shaky tonight.. dont like that we keep giving up leads then have to climb back.
Well, take the 'W' & keep working at it..

I do though like that the team isn't folding. The 4 goal outburst in 12 minutes to tie Dartmouth, coming back to tie it and win it tonight- this team has fight. The 2nd period I thought we looked brutal, but the third we came out and played well, made the adjustments we needed to and got the W.

Not great movement on the PP overall, but it's nice to see Cody getting the puck to the back of the net. 2 goals his last two games, let's hope this is the start of one of his trademark streaks. Also liked what I saw from Szmats, ZAR, and Stevens. Freshmen continue to look impressive, the future continues to look bright.

Quick turnaround for PC on Tuesday, points to be had. Go NU

Totally agree with the above assessment. In addition, passing seemed to be much crisper than it has been in recent games. With the team now heading into the iron part of the schedule, this is a good sign along with (hopefully) the re-emergence of CF. We'll see.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

For those going.. NU Frozen Fenway gm moved up, to accommodate Pats playoff gm that night. Actually both gms moved earlier..

Anyway, before that we have Friartown tomorrow.. got our work cut out. Go team! :)

Thanks for the heads up northeastern. Forecast is also calling for a 50% chance of rain at 45 degrees...not really looking forward to that. Excited to see hockey outdoors for the first time though! 4 Big points on the line this week, need to come away with some.

The freshmen class has already produced more than last year's senior class including Karlsson through 20 games this year. We lost 74 points, the freshmen are at 84 points so far.

And as I and many said at the start of the year, this year's class was easily superior to last year's.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Hope you enjoy the gm. Sincerely hope it is not raining too heavy.. as is its tough to see the puck & the action. Its great experience for the players.. other than that.. these outdoor 'shinny' hockey gms I feel are a gimmick. And now way overdone. Least you'll have the Fenway videoboards. Hey Sox won it all.. take it all in.. enjoy the park!

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Up one spot today to #16 in the poll. There are currently 7 HE teams in the top 20. Hope Gillies is still a little jet lagged tomorrow night.

C'mon! 45 degrees is absolutely balmy for Boston in January. Especially when you compare it to the 17-degree windy weather we sat through two years ago to watch the immediate past starting goaltender cough up two easy ones against uch. As for the rain, that's what rain gear is for.

So who else on here is going to refuse to become wussified and be where the Almighty put them on this earth to be at 2:15 p.m. this coming Saturday?
