Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

The Herald said Darou was out with a concussion.

It was interesting how candid Madigan was in his postgame about how crippling the Manson GM was with Fennell in the line-up and how they had to rely on basically 4 D for two periods. You gotta think our captain got a call into the principals office this week.

Actually, JM has sounded notably more self-assured at his pressers this season. Some really insightful observations and few "compete level" clichés. All part of the resurrection, I guess.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Quoted from dieharddogs.com. Sounds like a promising lead for anyone still looking for Beanpot tickets.

"I just ordered 2 tickets from harvard over the phone. The cost was $36 per ticket and I can pick them up at the will call office at the Garden on Monday. Very convenient, they had corner and side 300 level as well as some loge seats available! Their box office phone number is 617-495-2211."

I know they sell plenty tix for this thing.. but sheesh.. can you imagine if they were to move this to the first 2 Sat or Sundays in Feb.. would make for a better atmosphere at ALL gms for students & families alike.. it was a good idea.. first 2 Mondays.. life gets too busy Mondays.. maybe time to look at it perhaps. Longshot?.. who knows.. I think it'd make for better atmosphere.

Thnks for the info on the tix source..

Winning, or in this case riding the goalie, tends to make those pressers go alot easier, and more forgiving.

Manson in the lineup tomorrow? Going to finally send a message like he did to Cody? Or we going double standard? Not that I really want to see more Fennell, DD, or whomever else would get the 6th spot on defense, but the only leadership on the ice Manson has shown has been the walk to the penalty box + consistent trash talking with his mouth. Its one thing to talk as much as he has this year when you have won before, but 2 last place finishes in a row, he should tone it down until they actually win something.

Of course he will be in the lineup tomorrow. When Snyderman took the 5 minute major at the end of the UVM game that almost caused NU to blow a 3-0 lead in the last two minutes, JM was ****ed in the press conference about the lack of discipline and the "well-deserved" 5 minute penalty. I thought for sure that Snyderman would sit the next game. So, imagine my shock when he not only played, but he was in the starting lineup. After the Harvard game, JM didn't even take Manson to task for his penalty. He just talked about how much they missed their captain. Watch for him in the starting lineup tomorrow.

so we agree then? Double standard? And please do not think i comparing what Manson did to Cody and his slash at St. Lawerence, but one guy gets endless amounts of chances, the other guy leaves his crap until the end of the game and has worked to clean it up and has not look as good because of it.

JM also suspended Roy for 1 period this year. Cant forget that.

If you do this on the first two Saturdays, you'd be taking two weekend dates away from league play. The league games displaced by a Saturday Beanpot would necessarily have to be made up on a weekday.

If you do the opening round on the first Sunday, you're competing against the Super Bowl!

Not gonna happen.

Was a BS call on Manson, he finished his check hard. At most was 2 minutes. There were 3 game Misconducts Monday night. Little much.

Its not Monday night that has ruined the beanpot. Its that it has turned into a 2 team tournament for the last 25 years. BU will now go 5 years in a row without a beanpot, would have been nice if NU or Harvard could have stepped up and grabbed one of those. Until that happens the beanpot will continue to lose fans.

League gms could def be made up mid wk.. they often are.. but I completely forgot about the Super Bowl.. good point there.

Let's just win one of these before Harvard does..!
:-). Go Huskies

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

It was a high hit with contact to the head.

Not worth getting into a snit about but after watching the replays, Kerfoot's head snapped back from the force of the bodycheck itself--not from any contact to the head by the hands or stick. The kid also seemed to be off-balance and not ready for the check. The point of contact, from what I can see, was the solar plexus. Boarding maybe but not head contact.

get your eyes checked. Everything about that hit was high to the head. No part of Manson came anywhere near the chest of the Harvard kid. IF it was our guy who got like that, I would have wanted him tossed too. Not to mention there was ZERO reason for him even to be looking to make a hit like that at that point in time. Up 2-0 early first period, no need to line a guy up and send a message. Message has already been set on the scoreboard. Its ok to play aggressive, but pick your spots better.

The BS call on Mason in the Beanpot was the one behind the net last year against bu.

Re: Northeastern Hockey 2013-14 Season

Ya it was a total charge and high hit. I like the fact that he went for a huge hit early to set the tone, but he could have waited for a better chance. At least he did knock the puss out if him. If your gonna take a five minute major make it count.

I watched that BU game before the Harvard game with a friend just for kicks and I still can't figure out how that hit was a penalty...textbook hip check.

Yes, completely agree. BTW, what has happened to Schechter? Against BC, he was a plus 3 for the weekend and on the ice for all 4 even strength goals. Two of the goals he created with end to end rushes. Hasn't been in the lineup since Gunn came back almost 3 months ago.
