I was in town for the two games. Game one - the Huskies controlled the puck so well in the first period it seemed like they were always on a power play. I think Stonehill didn't have more than one shot until their own power play at the end of the period. The Dogs must have thought, well we don't need to try anymore, and proceeded to play two periods where they didn't connect many passes. That seemed to be the reason for the lack of offensive zone time the rest of the game. As another poster said, the combination of Zacher in goal and Stonehill's inability to play good hockey themselves meant a Husky win in the end (and a nice snipe by Borgesi to put it away). I thought the Huskies would show up more seriously on Saturday, but quickly went down 1-0 under a minute in. Eventually talent won out. But it wasn't pretty. Maybe this was part of the learning process - okay, don't believe the hype, you still have to show up every game.
Zacher does a great job of directing shots well away from the net. He doesn't seem to leave rebounds sitting around.
It seemed like the Huskies did a good job putting shots on net, they just weren't getting the right bounce around there for rebounds. One time they did, Dylan put it away before the goalie could react.
The team still looks very much like a work in progress, but they're better than I expected them to be so far.
Martino is definitely one for the future, I can't wait to see how he progresses.
