I completley disagree, they traveled cause they are on the team. This is D1 College, if everyone needs to play then play club. They needed to win games, he went with his best lineup. THis is crazy.

It's not about participation. It's about trying to win games. Coaches with much higher winning percentages (and often less talent) are constantly rotating players in and out of the lineup at every level, including at the NHL level. JM is locked into certain players regardless of how they play - sit with people from visiting teams and they are in awe at how some of our players who live on the ice in a particular game are so much worse than some of our players who play significantly less in that game. It is so obvious to an outsider who doesn't know the backstory of each player.

And the outsiders are experts in hockey because of? Here is a saying that fits here. "When you start listening to the fans soon you will be sitting with them"

I don't think every single person on the roster needs to be playing, but Jim's method of not touching the lineup unless we lose is just as bad as the other extreme. Just because, say, the 7-8-9 line scored 3 goals and we won 3-2 doesn't mean the other lines all performed perfectly and no changes can be made. But the only two extremes we seem to have are "We lost, change every line" or "We won, change nothing"

Well said. JM seems to believe in "lucky lineups" that don't get touched until the bottom falls out and it's too late. Great coaches are always tinkering within games, from game to game, etc., especially when winning. It's harder to stay on top than to get there. The Pats are constantly reinventing themselves.

Your quote applies to listening to fans of your own team. My exact point is that these people I sat with are not fans of our team and had little knowledge of the players coming into the game - that is why they are more objective. And, yes, they (unlike me) are experts who have coached numerous future NHL stars on the youth/college levels.

Oh, I am talking to a genius.

Now, now boys, let's not get personal. (That's what Minnesota people seem to do.) Given the erosion of the fan base that has taken place under the current athletic administration, I'm just happy to know that two people besides me still care enough about this program to argue about it.

Happens all the time, at all levels. Definition of inept coaching

PP Guru

No comparison regarding Cronin's 1st practice compared to Madigan's.... I can't get past that opening "pose" to read any credibility to the rest of your post. Cronin had horrible team & no resources. JM had a good team and great resources. To not acknowledge that fact washes away any comparison to JM job at NU over 5 years....

i only identify with your last line: what a mess. Cronin could coach & his staff recruited better players every year. I believe NU can win like UML & PC have done recently (and NU did 6 years ago). It starts w great goaltending ( build the team from the goalie out) and solid D. They have a goalie... Now go get some high end D. Whether it is Cronin or JM.... If u don't have a goalie... You have no chance. If you have a goalie & strong D....(and good coaching). You can win.

The big difference recruiting wise between Cronin and JM is that Cronin recruited from the goalie out and down the middle. JM to date likes to collect forwards like my kids collect Pokemon cards, and has ignored defense and the goalie. Cronin also worked to build a TEAM. As much as I knocked guys like Guzior and McCaulley when they were here and playing like goons, they played at a different level come the playoffs and added a different dimension. JM, loves others teams guys, I am guessing he does not trust his own recruits which is weird since he was a scout. (Keep in mind JMs first two recruits Cotton and Couturier played a total of 8 games here) I am still trying to figure out why we brought in Kurker and Collier. And the kid on defense who is sitting out the year.

Cronin was also willing to go wherever to find guys, and so were the coaches. JM and his staff, have focused on the prep leagues, lately the NJ/Penn area, and transfers. Not saying either way is the right way in this case, but it is a different methodology.

Cronin was not perfect though. His teams also chocked away many a game. He had his top teams to tight, seemed like they played scared at times. I do not know if it was Cronin or something else, but I lean towards the angry guy behind the bench who looked like at times he could literally rip the head off guys.

..another come from behind tie against a good opponent. if the team can keep up the intensity come end of season.. salvage something.

ruck is playing well.. the bu beanpot gm essentially a 1 goal gm due him..
kroy def missing his old self & we feeling that on the scoreboard each game now.

So you're saying the fact he's played more games and has less goals than Mike Jamieson is a bad thing?

The results broke our way yesterday with all the favorites winning and us getting a point. With our conference schedule the rest of the way,we should absolutely get a home playoff series in the first round. I can't really see us beating any of the possible top 4 seeds in a road series however. I guess we do play well at Notre Dame?

Re: Northeastern 2015-16: Hobey Roy Kenobi and the Freshman Force

I could see us winning in Lowell. We always seem to play well at Tsongas, even in recent years when they've killed us at Matthews. I wouldn't expect to win the series obviously, but I could see it happening. BC/BU/PC are probably sweeps, very likely losses.

Its a big game tonight

A bigger game for H than for NU. The Johns are coming off a Saturday loss to Yale. Back-to-back losses to Yale and NU would carry PWR consequences.

I hope JM puts his best team on the ice tonight to keep the positive momentum going. I don't need to see DRoy in goal, nor Schecter on D or Tanner Pond centering the 4th line. If we're not sharp, Harvard could shred our Defense. I don't expect to see the Harvard JV on the ice as we have at time in past consolation games.

You will get Harvard's best, they cannot lose this game.
