North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

My understanding of the rule is that it is now a judgement call on whether the player interfered with the goalie's ability to make the save (ie if he weren't there, would it have been saved). That did not appear to be the case here so declared a goal.

It was borderline, either way it should have been reviewed. UMD requested it be reviewed and it was not. UMD has reason to good reason to be upset about it.

Keep telling yourself that...

I did not say it was a good goal or a no goal, I just saw it live and saw there was contact between the UofM player and the UMD goalie. A request to have it reviewed should not be denied. It deserved another look. Taking another look at it could have also kept the officiating crew on good faith between both sides for the time being.

There was no keeping that crew on "good faith" with either team last night....

They were brutal for both teams, but a goal that had obvious contact with the keeper and denying a review is unacceptable.

I don't know that your complaint would even be on a list of mistakes the officials made last night. It certainly wouldn't be anywhere near the top.

When the gophers moved to the B1G administration said they required 26 home games in order to profit for the season. Initially they were requesting many other non-conference teams (except ND and DU) to commit to a 2 series at UofM and 1 series away contract. Does anyone know if this has changed?

Agree with Slap Shot. This is the biggest load of crap I've read in a while.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

That makes sense, I wonder if Mankato will do the same thing with the home and homes?

I don't think that's the case. Jutting was talking about this setup 2 years ago and my understanding is that the Gophers will be coming to Kato for a full series.

As an aside, without the setup with all of the teams, the NSCC doesn't happen. It helps the Gophers, it helps the other schools. It would be pointless for the other schools if MN didn't come to their rinks. It's a way to maximize revenue and minimize travel costs for all 5 teams.

UMD has a home and home series with UMTC next year and are not playing the in the NSCC (GGG).

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Good to see most of you this weekend! For those who I care about...

No, seriously, had a fun time. Next time ask for Lady, and I will buy you one. See you UMD fans in March.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Mankato I was always told hated the home and homes with the Gophers bc they don't want Gopher fans coming into town and then heading home before spending $. I have to imagine Mankato will take their full home series once every four years.

I hate home and home series. Ruins the prospect of a good road trip.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Oooooo.....90+ miles. That must be a difficult road trip.

Pfft.....It takes me 90+ miles to see my god-awful in-laws. Wimp.

I choose to have those three hours of my life and still watch the game. Road trips > day trip. :)

The drive is not the problem its the fact you cannot stay more than one night (and many people don't). Home and homes suck like that.

I still stay the night. Mostly because I have a reputation to uphold. ;)

Mainly if Mr. or someone else drives then I will drive back to the Twin Cities or previously St, Clooud.
