North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Negative Nancy, why are your posts always so negative?

Because I am sick of reading posts of wannabe trolls like you that contain no humor or self-awareness and barely any knowledge of college hockey. And I think that knobs like you have driven away some of the good posters that are no longer on this board.

The fact that this thread hasn't made it to 20 pages after the series is testament to that. If this tournament existed 3 years ago this thread would be on part 2 and on 60+ pages. Is that because there are fewer college hockey fans in Minnesota?

We get it, you don't like me. It never fails to amuse me though about how much of an angry dick you are.

If you're a Gopher fan and spend most of your time posting in SCSU threads...ahhhh...what are your expectations? It's not your tribe and they're going to **** on you man. Who's fault is that?:D

If his trolling was funny, it might be different, but it's just sad and stupid so IMO he deserves what he gets.

Glad they finished on top, but wad really annoyed by the shootout.

As for the B1G, the rivalries will build with time no question. It's inevitable.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

The 5 min major call on Marshall for contact to the head and a DQ and the boarding call on Ambroz with 1:27 left in the game were horrible calls and can't be compared to anything the intellectually challenged refs slapped UMD with tonight.

looked to me like Condon was definitely in the crease on the second Gopher goal

LOL

Condon followed the puck to the crease. Totally legal.

Also, any complaints about the structure of this tournament are laughable. It's set up the only way it can be done. The schedule, the shootout, etc.

Frankly, the tournament did quite well (attendance: 14k both days) considering that it got little fan faire prior and UM promotions saturated the outdoor game the previous week but ignored a much, much better NSCC this week. As said, this tournament will get more enthusiasm as exposure, awareness increase and will only be helped by some outstanding play and close/great games this year.

I agree on the setup schedule-wise, but I'm curious why you think the Championship game couldn't run full OTs. I agree for the Friday games that full OTs have the potential to be bad if the early game is tied, and you can't do one Semi game with a SO, and the other with full OT, but the Championship could be different (like they do for the Mariucci classic)

I agree with almost everything. It could have ended with a 20 min OT before a shoutout.

Because Pandora's box has been open. Are you going to call it a tie for the Pairwise then even if it goes 20 minutes and someone wins? If someone wins in 5 minutes now it is a win for the pairwise, right? So, you going to say if someone scores in 5 minutes then it counts as a win for Pairwise, and if they score after that it doesn't? As soon as you change the rule from a regular season game (which is actually what it is) then you're going to have the team that was tied 5 minutes into OT screaming about missing the NCAA's because they didn't get the tie in the North Star College Cup.

The NCAA rules are very clear about that. Any game played to completion counts as a win/loss, games decided in a shootout after a 5 minute OT are counted as ties.

Having 5 min OT/Shootout in the "semi-finals" of in-season tournaments with the Championship game running full OTs until there's a winner isn't at all unheard of. I know that the Mariucci classic is set up that way, I'm pretty sure the GLI is, and I know the beanpot Championship game for sure runs full OTs (not sure about the semis there).

I would rather play UMD and Jan before Penn State and Ohio State, I'm sure some players feel the same way.

Much more intensity in these 2 games than in the previous 4 combined.

This likely will change with more games against the BiG. It takes time.

Wait until after some hardware gets given out at the conference tourney for a couple of years. Then the bile will ramp up.

FTLT, was that you waving to the FSN camera between the second and third periods of the SCSU-MSU game? Female was wearing black SCSU jersey and male was wearing red SCSU jersey.

I bet it was, and I didn't even watch the game. :) Sounds like FTLT.

Speaking of rules, is there NOT an embellishment penalty ion NCAA rules? I realize there were bad calls all night, and I am not claiming that call alone was the problem with the officiating, but that dive made Dino Cicerrelli look like an subtle, Oscar-winning actor in comparison.
