North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Not in the slightest, we didn't play badly at all.
Gopher PP was better than our Pk, congrats.
Go start typing up that scouting resume, I'm sure some mite team is looking for a guy with your "talent"

Gophers are just straight up a better team in every way than the Huskies and that's something that we've told you for months. Now that truth has been validated and all you can come up with are cliched lines like "Championships aren't crowned in January." Good one. While I'm typing up my resume, maybe you can type up yours and send it to Halmark. I hear they love tired, old one-liners.

What makes me happiest about your post is that I can tell it kills you that I was right. But hey I give you credit for showing your face after the Gophers breezed through your team. Once a little sister, always a little sister.

If your trolling wasn't so obvious I might be offended. You have some work to do.

Got stuck by some REALLY douchy Gopher fans tonight. Of course all fanbases have their bad eggs...but try winning AND losing with class.

I don't give two ****s whether you were right or not, it's one game.
Have fun puffing your chest, you. Just look like a bigger tool than usual.
And yeah, I'm here, something I know you wouldn't be if the final had been reversed.

Hmm, since this is my team's thread as much as your's, I think I'm justified in being in here and can comment on the Gopher victory without trolling. As far as my response to FTLT, just throwing it back in his face for constantly being an ***.

Good point, at least you guys know how to lose, though a couple more participation banners and you guys may not know how to do that either.

It's possible to troll in a thread your team is involved in. Are you new here?

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

UMD beat MSU-M despite allowing two power play goals, a short handed goal and one of the weakest goals you'll see. Nice! I think

Or are you trying to troll me? I guess we'll never know. We do know a few things though. Gophers add another notch in their belt and go 18-2-3, Huskies fall to 12-5-4 and haven't won a game since Jan 10th. Speaking of Jan...

Pfft. You can't prove anything with facts.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Definitely not a pretty W, but the Gophers manage to escape with a 4-1 win tonight and move onto the North Star College Cup Championship game against UMD. Credit the SCSU Huskies who showed one hell of a focused effort tonight at the X. They outplayed the Gophers for most of the game, and won puck battles down low and in front while maintaining a huge SOG advantage all game (39-29). Johnny Brodzinski had a standout game and showed why he’s a stud on ice scoring the Huskies lone goal with some very strong play near the paint. SCSU held the edge in scoring chances all game, but the scoring woes that have plagued the Huskies lately continued tonight as they failed to capitalize and get pucks by Adam Wilcox who was at his stellar best again.

Overall, the Gophers played terrible 5 x 5 hockey, struggled passing the puck, and showed poor puck management committing 7 turnovers in the opening period. But good teams always find a way to win; and Gopher special teams and the extraordinary play of Wilcox were enough to hold off a strong offensive attack all game by SCSU. The Gopher PP has been subpar all season, but tonight the Gopher PP pulled a rabbit out their hat going 2/2 in their best performance to date. I thought the third line of Serratore, Boyd and Ambroz were the best line again for the Gophers. Boyd, a 20 year old junior, always comes ready to give 110% on the ice and opened the scoring with a PPG and his career best 7th goal of the season to give the Gophers the lead. Nate Condon finally got on the scoresheet with the GWG on a wrist shot with traffic in front that got by Faragher. The win extends the Gophers nation leading unbeaten streak to 11 games.

The most telling story for me about this Gopher squad so far this season is there are really no special “go to guys” this year as in previous seasons. Yet I can’t think of a Gopher team in recent history where it seems every game someone or something different (i.e. PP tonight) comes up big to seal a W and that’s the kind of team effort championship teams are made of. Go Gophers! RAH! :)

That is a quality post.

Anyone know why we yanked Faragher for Lindgren in the 3rd?

We'll done. Adam Wilcox is showing the rest of the country he's the best goalie in the country. If he continues this torrid pace the Gophers just might win some major trophies In April.

They didn't outplay the Gophers between the pipes or on the back-end, and that is as much a part of the game as any. Really impressed with how well this Gopher team is playing defensively. Reilly and Skjei are special players, and Wilcox might be the best goaltender we've had since Stauber.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

I thought Faragher was giving up way to many rebounds out front and not directing them back in the corners. Plus the soft one to Condon. He was off. He's been lights out against certain teams and been off lately.

Since basic reading and processing obviously aren't your strengths, I'll help. First, I said "basically"...they basically swept you. Secondly, last I checked the shootout win counted in your conference standings. So conference wise, they won both games. Happy dummy?

So they put a separate column for OT wins because they are "basically" the same?
