North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

Watching the pregame. This is an honest question: Is Doug Woog ill or did he have a stroke? I haven't seen him on TV in a few years and he looks and sounds vastly different from even a few year ago. No disrespect intended here. I always enjoyed listening to Mr. Woog do color on the Gopher games. Great stories and excellent color.

He's on the tv now. He's just old. I love the guy, but he should probably think about stepping away from the media. :(

As long as Sid Hartman is still refusing to just give up and die, much to nearly everyone's chagrin, Doug Woog should continue being on the teevees.

You bring up a good point, although I think Sid is now more machine than man.

A sweep means 2 wins. I know you are mentally challenged so you get a pass.

Since basic reading and processing obviously aren't your strengths, I'll help. First, I said "basically"...they basically swept you. Secondly, last I checked the shootout win counted in your conference standings. So conference wise, they won both games. Happy dummy?

His hands are shaking a lot now. During the pregame last Saturday he was trying to use his hands to make small gestures the way he's always done, but they were shaking heavily. Nothing's ever been stated on an illness, so it's probably just age or Wooger doesn't feel like disclosing anything. I hope it's just age.

From what I've heard, it's illness.

Well, like I say. Always enjoyed Doug Woog with his insight and stories from the golden ages. I hope whatever it is they can get a handle on things so his quality of life improves. While sometimes a homer (aren't we all), Doug has always been a wonderful ambassador of college hockey, esp within the state of Minnesota.

Gophers and UMD for the championship tomorrow night at 7.

Nice win for the Gophers tonight.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

So the UofM schools face off, as do the state schools.

Wilcox comes through big again and is the reason the Gophers head to the championship. Nice to see the PP click, very nice to see Fasching get a goal. Just has to work on his shift discipline, I guess. :D

Faragher has struggled a little lately, but to say he hasn't been good this year is just plain wrong.
But then when it comes to your "analysis" of us, wrong is what you usually are.

Hmmm...what were my points?
1. Gophers win 4-2 (Pretty darn close, guess I overestimated their ability)
2. Faragher isn't that good (must not be to have put in the backup)
3. Huskies aren't that great (have ability, but not a top 3 team)

Looks like my "analysis" wasn't too far off.

Now go crawl into a bottle of beer.

Cheers.

Jan Jan Jan, you put up a decent fight but the better team came out on top. Good luck against Corkys kids though, the short bus will be in full force tomorrow afternoon.

Even a blind squirrel finds one, *********.
Guess you'll have that scouting job soon then eh?
But if you and your fellow trolls want to crow, have at it I guess.
As you so like to remind us, championships aren't won in January.

You sound upset.

Not in the slightest, we didn't play badly at all.
Gopher PP was better than our Pk, congrats.
Go start typing up that scouting resume, I'm sure some mite team is looking for a guy with your "talent"

I think the North Star Cup Championship is.

Re: North Star College Cup - MN, UMD, MSU, SCSU

I thought the only ones that matter were ones banners are hung for, are you suggesting one will go up if they win tomorrow?

Not only that, they'll probably put a mural up to commemorate the occasion.

We're not SCSU. They did hang tough for a bit, then apparently we decided to play (honestly no insult intended in that remark). MN was a different team for a good stretch of the game. I wish they could do that all the time. Either way, once we put our foot down, game over.
