North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

There is no need to swear at games. It is just a game and not life and death.

Agreed.

It's sad that it has to come to this where people can't use their head and have to be told to behave themselves.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Hmm... pass.

I agree. Obscene as I am, I won't cuss around kids. I won't use abusive language (in a fun manner of course) around kids. I won't talk about adult topics around kids.

But I'll be dammed if I am not allowed to taunt the other team and their fans in a creative way.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

There aren't any kids on Thunder Island, unless you count the Missing Link babies. But they swear more than me and Douda, so there's nothing to worry about.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

Hockey East tried this halfway through last year. At some of the rinks, though mainly geared toward UMass and BU especially, there are signs that read "be respectful, keep it clean." In my opinion this really hasn't been to successful as UMass students especially seem to be the most obnoxious bunch in the country. For those of you who have never been to a game at UMass, you will be in for a surprise, which a lot of you might not like. I'm a huge fan myself, and I cheer, but I tend to keep it hockey related, and hopefully appropriate. I like where UND is going on this.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

I just hope they ban being dirty. I just hate things that are dirty, and it should be kept out of college hockey. I say either take a bath, or go roll around in a sugar beet field, and stay away from college hockey.

So, in that case if i gamble my life on whether or not the sioux win, then i can swear all i want? ;)

I'd bet the spread and the moneyline on the sioux this weekend. If I hear Jon Campion swear on the ice......shouldn't he thrown out of the rink too?

Ban Dirty???

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

And it's certainly not a problem at UAA. They treat visiting fans like royalty up there.

Is that because there is no one in the stands? :) I also don't know anyone that hates Tech fans. They are kind of the bomb.

Re: North Dakota's New Code of Fan Conduct

A fan almost lost his life in the Parking Lot. It could of happened at any WCHA arena or any NCAA school. The Code of Conduct is designed to prevent violent incidents and hopefully lead to a better fan experience. UND is to be commended for acting swiftly and comprehensively on this issue. Kudos to them.

You better believe UND will enforce these policies because there is still the matter of a lawsuit or two to resolve over the parking lot incident.

That being said, I'd expect these policies to make for better game night experience and that is why every WCHA school should jump on this bandwagon. Its a no-brainer.

Should fans "Sieve" the opposing goaltender? By all means. But it also gives the fans the right to not be harassed or bullied, all without having to miss any of the game.

I'm betting the incident in the parking lot was already deemed inappropriate (if not downright illegal). If the arena folks go overboard and become cheer-police or smother fan energy/passion it will be predictable shame.

All this time reading 444's posts and it took until now to figure out it is really my wife in disguise. Must be. Gopher fans shouldn't say such things.
