I'll have to disagree with some of our fans on this one. This story doesn't give me any particular glee or happiness. More than anything I feel disappointment.

The kid obviously has some talent, and maybe even an NHL future ahead of him. He's young. He just needs to do some growing up.

Putting him in the Canadian juniors, and giving him an early shot at the NHL were obviously not the correct steps. You wish someone could have stepped in and given him some good advice.

He probably could have benefited from heading west to North Dakota, taking on the discipline of a college course of study and foregoing the early cup of coffee in the NHL. He would have seen plenty of playing time, and would have had a chance to grow up. Meanwhile, UND would have received the benefit of a talented recruit. It really seems like a "lose, lose" situation to me.

I agree that the majority of people without minors just didn't get caught. But I think that when people get minors, they are doing stupid stuff that draws attention to themselves and then the police get involved. It isn't just drinking. I drank 3-5 nights a week in college and didn't turn 21 until the summer after my junior year. Never got a minor.

A minor getting caught with booze the first time is one thing--getting caught the second time is not just a minor in possession, it's a stupid minor in possession. And when one of those present gets a noise ordinance citation, it's a real stupid minor in possession.

Yeah, but I am assuming you weren't attending "hockey parties". It's not unusual for some of these parties to have 50+ people. Not to mention, the most attractive UND female students are attending this party, as a "puck slut", which ultimately attracts cavemen like behavior from any male at the party. I'm sure these parties get unnecessarily rowdy, whether they want it to or not.

I'm not trying to defend them, because they should be smart enough to just not drink for awhile, but there's a difference from being at a monstrous party and drinking with your friends.

I have been at hockey parties. I have been at parties bigger than the hockey parties. Had cops come to parties I have been at a dozen times. Still never got a minor. These guys are idiots.

So because you never got a minor in St. Cloud where you were lucky to be let off numerous times, it automatically means these guys are idiots? Like I said before, it's not like these are crazy assault charges, these are minor consumption and a noise violation. It happens. Move on.

Sorry, officer. This is the offseason, though. There isn't much else to talk about. If you don't like this discussion, which BTW has taken up a whole 13 posts, then you can move on.

I never said they are bad kids or should be locked up. I am just saying they are idiots. Most teams probably have a couple.

I know you're not new here so you should know this...we beat everything to death, especially in the offseason. We DON'T move on. :p

If it were Gopher players you'd be in there like Tippsy banging the same drum. ;)
