North Dakota @ Minnesota 11/5/11

Re: North Dakota @ Minnesota 11/5/11

I don't know how we were ahead after that period...but, I'll take it.
MN bricked on the powerplay and their play generally got worse in that period (hard to maintain the first period's dominance).

The story once again is Dell. MN could easily have been up 4-1 after the first, but he held them to a single goal, and now we see what can happen when a goalie is on fire - a chance the other way turns it into a deficit for MN. Frustrating to say the least.

Dell is on his game that's for sure.

Our PP is not so good tonight.

Blood once again played the whole period I think.

The "Tebow" celebration by Rocco... really?

This is pretty much what we figured needs to happen for this Sioux team to win - they aren't going to score a lot so defense and goaltending are going to have to win some games.

Re: North Dakota @ Minnesota 11/5/11

If no dak does ANYTHING close to winning this year it will be because of Dell - he is a beast for being the second best goalie in this game ;-)

Re: North Dakota @ Minnesota 11/5/11

Sog 32-11
Scoring chances are 24-6.

Just seems like "one of those games" where MN will severely out-chance them and be buzzing and have little or nothing to show for it. Not much to say about it other than it looks like they'll need some ugly goals if they want to win this - Dell is just seeing everything too well right now.

Agreed.

But UND won't keep the lead if the shots stay so lopsided.

No, they'll probably build on it. This has "MN will press too much to tie it and it will cost them" written all over it.

MN keeps shooting high trying to snipe when they should be doing the opposite and crashing the net. It was no accident that they scored their lone goal on a rebound/loose puck in the crease situation.

...and MN got away with a trip there. Yeesh. They look a bit flat to start the 3rd.

Re: North Dakota @ Minnesota 11/5/11

UND was a bit too casual with that breakout.

I don't recall the last time I saw a UND team this sloppy with the puck in its own end.

Yeah, our young guys are playing like underclassmen. We've been spoiled the last few years with such a strong defense.
