NoDak @ Maine Oct 22 / 23

Re: NoDak @ Maine Oct 22 / 23

Reports are Hakstol skated the team pretty hard at the morning skate.

Either they'll come out on fire or their legs will fall off...

From twitter:
Dane Jackson signing young fan's Sioux jersey: "We'll be better for you tonight." Young fan: "I know you will."

Re: NoDak @ Maine Oct 22 / 23

I wouldn't count the Fighting Sioux out of tonight's game. They are also a skilled team. The last time I checked they had 16 NHL draft picks. 16? Is that right? Maine's special teams were outstanding last night. Can they do it twice?

Re: NoDak @ Maine Oct 22 / 23

Tonight's game will be interesting. The last non-conf team to sweep UND? Maine...
I would guess that if UND manages to win tonight, that Onion Man and ECAC writer are no where near a UND thread. :)
That said, it would take a big turnaround by UND for that to happen...they played like crap and Maine is very skilled.

The game should be very interesting, and we'll learn a lot about this Sioux squad.

As for Onion Man and ECACHL writer, they have the maturity level of a 5 year old, so don't expect to hear anything if the Sioux win. If the Sioux lose, expect them to spout off.

The Sioux are a good team, I'd never count them out. What I'd like to see is Maine play up to their ability 2 games in a row. If the Sioux goalies play like they did last night, Maine should roll. My guess is the Sioux goalies play alot better and its a tight game.

Haven't you heard?? North Dakota is so terribly overrated, and aren't even a top-20 team in the country. :p:D:D

Agreed on goalie play, but our defense (probably our biggest strength this year) needs to actually show up. They left our goalies out to dry on a couple of goals.

If Maine jumps out to an early lead I think it could get nasty. If you think NoDak was chippy last night.......

Don't worry, even if it doesn't get chippy, the refs will probably penalize UND for wearing helmets or something.

If they play like a bunch of whiny entitled beaches again tonight, I'm sure they will. :p

If they actually play up to their potential, instead of skating around being frustrated with the world, it'll be a heluva game. That's my guess. Glad I've got a ticket. :)

Agreed. While I think the officiating was not very good last night (and I agree with most other Sioux fans that it didn't have an impact on the game, Maine would have killed us regardless of the officiating), I agree that the Sioux needed to handle it better. Once a call goes against you, there isn't anything you can do. Toughen up on the PK and try to kill it. We didn't do that last night, and it hurt. If we fall into the same mentality tonight I'd expect a similar result.

Re: NoDak @ Maine Oct 22 / 23

Glad you didn't misinterpret. Except for head-to-head matches, I root for the Sioux. I was really looking forward to this series - enough to fly up from Virginia to catch it - and I was honestly a little disappointed. Not for Maine; it was a big win for them. But if I were a Sioux fan first, I don't think I got my money's worth last night.

They were shorthanded all night, even when they weren't killing penalties. I don't want to criticize the whole team - there were a lot of Sioux who showed up to play. But it seemed like on most shifts, there were 1 or 2 players who were going through the motions. Losing battles on the boards even when they had a big size/leverage advantage, getting outskated to the puck, etc. I dunno about the goaltending. That looks like it might be a real question mark for North Dakota (as it is for Maine, I think). But there's a ton of talent, size, and speed on the rest of the roster. Way too much for something like last night to happen.

I'm just glad I got to sleep in and wake up with a nice peaceful breakfast. I've got a feeling last night and this morning were a little less quiet for the Sioux players.

What do you expect from a Brown fan anyway?:) I saw the speed of the Sioux Forwards last night, its pretty apparent last night wasn't there night. I doubt that happens twice

I agree. We're a very good team, and a legitimate championship contender. Tonight's game will be very important. We got smacked in the mouth last night, and how we respond tonight will be what I look for. As the genius Mike Tyson once said "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face". Well, we got punched in the face...how are we going to respond?

You made an observation in an earlier post that Abbott may have gotten injured in the third, I just finished watching the replay of last night's game and I didn't see him after playing on a 5 on 3 around the 13-minute mark. Not a good sign at all.

He got injured there is no doubt about that. Dell slashed him right in front of me, took Abbots glove right off when he did it. He did play after that happened, but not for quite awhile. I haven't watched my DVR yet

Probably the latter. :)
Trip to Alaska, bus trip to Bemidji, trip to Maine...that's a lot of traveling and then a hard morning skate. Of course, they didn't skate too hard last night, so maybe it will be fine. :D

The game should be very interesting, and we'll learn a lot about this Sioux squad.

They responded very well during the Alaska roadtrip after a very disappointing Friday night game. The next night they came out and completely shutdown a talented UAF squad. Let's hope for the same type of reversal tonight...

Exactly what I was thinking as well.
