NMU @ Wisconsin Oct. 7 & 8 - Let's Kick the Tires and Light the Fires....

Re: NMU @ Wisconsin Oct. 7 & 8 - Let's Kick the Tires and Light the Fires....

What's even better than Bemidji beating up on Miami? Northern slapping the Badgers around. Good work.

Yeah, coz that's what happened.

You won, but pretty even game from my vantage point. Badgers a post away from OT win. Meh.

I'm actually with him. We were a post away from being on the other side of this coin. The penalty box parade didn't help things.
It was a great showing overall for both teams. NMU just landed on the lucky side of it this time around.

Right on. Was it the same distributor Bell's had issues with a few years back? Also, through your studies/research, do you see any options for craft brewers in Wisconsin. The current Governor is a giant ******. The majority of his administration as well.

In other news... Cats are doing well. A lot of flipping penalties though. Wish I could see this on TV. Just upgraded my DishTV packages. FYI... gave will be shown online in a few minutes. Google Wisconsin TV. It will also be shown tomorrow night. Should be live then.

Craft breweries in general are doing really well, absolutely killing InBev, and doing some damage on MillerCoors, but they have Leinie's which helps them continue to grow despite their portfolio outside of Leinie's staying pretty stagnant.

I know that their is a developing lobby called the "Brewers Association" that offers help to craft breweries that need help. I don't honestly know enough about the law or the distribution channels in Wi to give much advice beyond that.

And yes, Scott Walker is a huge bag of ****. I have a close friend, also an NMU alum, that works for We Are Wisconsin, and he seems very hopeful Walker won't be around that much longer.

And what a hockey game, holy ****! I stayed off Facebook for the entire night to avoid seeing the replay before it came on. Amazing game, the team looks very competitive. I am wondering what the night would have looked like without all those penalties though...

I was in Madison last night and attended the game....Kohl Center was almost empty due to the Brewer game. I was expecting both teams to be about even, given the pre-season ratings of both teams and player losses/gains on each side. I'm an MTU fan and I don't cheer for the Cats too often, but Wow!. NMU manhandled the mighty Badgers, despite playing with 4 players most of the game. UW had a few more shots on goal, but the game seemed lopsided to me. The Cats offense seemed to be able to move the puck end to end and their passing and playmaking were impressive. They shut down Justin Schultz by diving in front of his shots and Florek looked great. I was also happy for Thurber. He got a little cheer from the Wisconsin fans when he was announced in the starting lineup and he played better in green and gold than he ever did in red and white. Way to go Cats! Hope the boys can stay out of the box tonight.

We (craft brewers) are doing well. Slowly taking market share away from the larger (crap) breweries. Rumor has it InBev is in talks on acquiring MillerCoors now. The Brewers Association is strong as is the Michigan Brewers Guild. I believe Wisconsin has a guild too. If small breweries lose the right to self-distribute, they could take a huge hit. I wish we could self distribute in Michigan! I actually got into a conversation with a Bell's employee (marketing guy) about it. He was defending the distribution laws in Michigan in that it creates more jobs. Of course, at the volume they produce, they are way better off letting others distribute their beer in Michigan. Anyhow... lets go Cats! Taking 2 games on the road against the Badgers will help them out SO much this season.

Could we please keep the political talk out of hockey threads? Trust me, nobody cares what you (or I) think of [insert politician]. Thanks.

I was also at the game, and I agree with UpNorthHockey - NMU looked like the better team for much of the game.

EDIT: On the other hand, beer talk is always a good thread hijack! :D

Well, I'll take a split on the weekend. Overall, they seemed pretty evenly matched, and aside from the constant penalty box parade, both teams played quite well. Best of luck in Houghton this weekend, Badgers. Please shut the Michigan Tech "OMG WE GOT A SWEEEEEEP*" Huskies up. Quickly.

*Over AIC. Does that really count?
