NMU Wildcats 2015 off-season thread

Re: NMU Wildcats 2015 off-season thread

Same here, great format for a Q&A with a player and he really well. Would love to see more of these from around the country! :)

we are working on others. Since this one was a success I think that this will allow us to get more.

This was a fun read. The kid is a credit to your program. I wonder, though - Will coaches be a little leery of these kind of things? Someone could say something really stupid, and make news for all the wrong reasons.

he had to OK it through the official school media guy, it wasn't just "hey ! I feel like doing this" he reached out to us about a month ago and we waited till a little bit more before the season.

I didn't mean that to sound like a criticism of how this was conducted. I'm just wondering how many coaches would want no part of it. Lots of coaches have control issues. Some coaches really try to limit player interviews and some football coaches forbid player tweeting. Kudos to Walt Kyle for trusting his players, and to you guys for a job well done

really? heard BG's Mark Cooper interviewed on Toledo's 1065TheTicket just yesterday. it's good marketing, and I'd think that many coaches would recognize that interviews are something that athletes are expected to handle.

But agreed, R. Payne did do a good job on Reddit.

I didn't take it as criticism. Just giving you an FYI of what was done, I totally understand where you're coming from on that. We want to encourage others to do it and have it cleared through whoever they need to clear it through. We would love for more players to do it, but understand there are multiple hoops players may have to jump though. Robbie did a great job and as more players like him do it and coaches/marketing folks see it in a positive light, we can get more players to do it.

Radio people are often more professional than Reddit users. :)

GFM <— sad that there wasn't a duck-sized horse question

Are Shine and Adair injured or were they just scratched last night? Also, anyone know the deal with Dahlstrom? I've heard bad back and bad knee. Will he play anytime soon?

I talked with him last night. He'll play Friday. I have no idea where you heard "back." His back has never been an issue.

Shine & Adair were just scratched. It was an exhibition and the staff wanted to look at a lot of players who are competing for a seat on the bus next Thursday.
