NMU Wildcat Hockey 2022-2023

Well, Not much action on this board for quite awhile, but this Wildcat Alumnus can't let a victory over the evil Tech go unmentioned.
What a 1st period, and how about the play of Halasz? The kid is only a Freshman. '
Go Cats!

Just bumping this from an old NMU thread:

https://www.upmatters.com/sports/nmu...hang-a-banner/

There is no more excuse about, ‘hey it’s a new coach and new players or we’re young.’ You know, some of those things to me..they haven’t been excuses because they’ve been facts, but now it’s to the point where I think our players need to get the same mindset as I do and that I have at that is…It’s time to hang a banner.

This is fiction. Not happening. Grant would leave NMU for this job, but the Wisconsin fan base would go nuts. They are expecting someone much more accomplished than Grant.

You're probably right, but in his defense, he's only had one losing season in 6 years. Admittedly, no NCAA appearances would be something Badger fans would grouse about, although he could change that this weekend.
Also had an NCAA-winning goal as a player, but that might not carry as much weight in Wisconsin as it does just to the west of there.

Don't get me wrong, I love Grant as our coach. I suppose that if for some reason Northern makes some noise this week and beyond, it might get the attention of the folks in Madison. I hope not.

I don't see it. UW has higher aspersions. Nothing against Grant, but he's easily behind at least 2-3 CCHA coaches for desirability. And that's just his own conference. I think a *lot* of people would have to turn the Badgers down before he got an opportunity.

Agreed

Well, pretty devestating way to end a season. All you can do is learn from it. I don't think Grant was guilty of going into a shell, as those late penalties put us on our heels the last, what, 4 minutes of the game?
We have some young talent with three players on the all rookie team, but we will miss our seniors. We need just a little bit more in recruting to get above this "4th place lose in the CCHA tournament" funk. To the Cat fans who look at this, have a great summer. Tech fans, I hope your summer has many clouds and light rain daily. No flooding, of course.

Ghantous is heck of player, #1 player on team. Don't worry about Larson leaving find another player plug him in his spot give the same spot and it will be even.

On a Lansing radio interview yesterday, Rick Comley revealed that NMU is in negotiations to play both Michigan State and SUNY-Ann Arbor in upcoming home-and-home agreements. He did admit that it's likely to end up as a 2 for 1 deal.

Given the state of things, we have to take what we can get.
