NMU @ SCSU: Remember last time... when you guys... in the NCAAs.... :D

Re: NMU @ SCSU: Remember last time... when you guys... in the NCAAs.... :D

Congrats Cats! Sorry to see the Huskies lose, but good to see the alma mater get a much needed win.

Great win for the Cats last night! Didn't see this coming. Here is a link to video highlights provided by SCSU Sports Dept. that shows all goals scored.

Also, NMU's Kyle Follmer gets a nod from ESPN Top 10 plays (#8) when he batted a sure goal over the cage. The link is on SCSU Mens Hockey home page.

Go CATS!

Congrats on the sweep but if I'm a Northern fan, I'm embarrassed by the taunting the team did to the students after the win.
Show a little class.

Missed Friday's game, watched tonight.

Very good production by SCSU online!

Liked the announcers--thought they were very fair and complimentary to both programs. (Hey, Jim--it's Jared not Jason)

Coreau was outstanding in goal and Reed Seckel (1G 1A) just won't quit.

Nice to see the 'Cats get the sweep; hope they can sustain some momentum from these two wins.

So what happened? Did someone throw an cupped ear towards your beloved Dog Pound? :p ;)

Can't be any worse than when TJ Miller jersey popped in Minny two years ago...

What happened was SCSU played like **** and NMU took advantage of that by playing well. Even in my disappointment I can only congratulate the Wildcats for their sweep away from home. As a Husky fan I'm pretty embarrassed, but NMU deserved those wins. Lots of effort there. As I drink my blues away I wish you good luck in the rest of your season.

Why would you be embarrassed? St Cloud played very well on Saturday night, generating 37 shots, a high number of high quality scoring opportunities and limiting NMUs chances. The bottom line was NMUs goalie stopped 37 of 38. That "embarrassing" performance would win most games.

As far as taunting...so let me get this right, it's always ok for student sections or fans to ride opposing players all weekend long. All rinks have 'em. Why is that acceptable, but it's not for the players to give it back?

That being said, the trip to St Cloud was an excellent experience. SCSU staff and fans were outstanding. I hope that this series can continue in the not too distant future.

I agree with you there. Actually, the student section should look at it this way; they must have been doing something right all weekend with their taunting if the players felt the need to celebrate right in front of them.

As a player, you know the fans are going to ride you, that's their job, especially in a road arena.
It's not ok IMO to be a jerk and taunt the fans who did what they are supposed to do.
It shows a lack of class from the players, act like you've won before.

You should tell that to Nic Dowd.

So it's perfectly acceptable and classy when you do it, but when someone gives it back, it shows a lack of class. Seems like a double standard.

I'm curious, what exactly happened?

I have to agree that, as a fan, you showed that you were inside our player's head, even if just for a brief moment... Lord knows that's a main intention at any game I've ever been to... I can't hold it against players for living in the moment and doing something to jab you back.... Obviously there is a line if it's something obscene or overtly offensive.... If this falls into that category, then I apologize sincerely as an NMU fan... If not, well, tough sh*t Jan....

What is your take on 33 from the cats?

I didn't clearly see the initial gesture from Coreau but the students went nuts.
From there the whole team gathered in front of the students and during their celebration circle, several were banging their sticks on the glass, waving at the fans etc. and from my vantage point it was hard to see if any other gestures were made.
Offensive?
Maybe not, but whether you say tough **** or not, in my book, it's classless.

Is it possible that it had anything to do with the group of NMU fans and parents behind to student section? There were quite a few standing and cheering at the end of the game in the area where the post game activities took place. Whenever NMU gets a road win they always acknowledge their fans.
