I'm curious why the LSSU/NMU series in Marquette are always at the end of the season?

That's actually a valid question... I mean, it kills attendance for the series.... I'd love to see it moved elsewhere on the schedule...

In 2010-11 the series was played the first weekend of February and drew crowds of 2550 & 2572, an average of 2561. Those crowds were smaller than playing on the last weekend of the season in 08-09 (2588 avg), 09-10 (2759) and last year (3353).

Looks good!

And an early jump on future scheduling, as the Mining Journal announced that there is a four year scheduling agreement in place with Wisconsin alternating between Madison and Green Bay.

Giving us: 2013-14: @UW, @NoDak, vUNO

FYI - The online service will automatically give you the lowest seats in the bowl. If you want higher seats, or at a particular spot (ie red line or behind a goal, etc), I suggest you call.

This. The lower seats suck. Always call. I'll be there for both games cheering for both teams to lose. :)

Re: NMU Offseason: Forget bikes, we're stealing a Karr...

From "Hello from NMU President David Haynes" - "What's New, NMU?" e-mail I received today:

Between now and when fall classes begin my focus is primarily on making decisions about our current vacant vice president for academic affairs/provost and athletic director positions...

To read the entire message click here.

As for the schedule, I'm glad the 'Cats will be in Kazoo and East Lansing again this coming season. After this season, Big Rapids and Bowling Green will be the only choices most likely. I'd like to see NMU continue to schedule with MSU, WMU, and uom if that's a possibility in the future.

Uhh... wasn't that pretty well wrapped up on a silver platter except for the calling of the top selection? I'm not getting warm, fuzzy feelings from this Haynes appointment. I fear for direction of NMU Athletics the longer this drags on.

:(

Re: NMU Offseason: Forget bikes, we're stealing a Karr...

The 2012-13 Wildcat Hockey Schedule will be released on Wednesday morning at 7:50 AM exclusively on 100.3 the Point with Dave Danis and Coach Walt Kyle. It will also be streamed online at RadioEagleSports.com

Was this a schedule release as well as an interview with Coach Kyle about the upcoming season?

If so, is it, or will it be, archived somewhere to be accessed at a later date?

Or, if not, did anyone listen and maybe someone could summarize the interview?

That would have been the selection made by Les Wong. I don't see anything wrong with the interim President doing a bit of due diligence of his own. Actually, it's a pretty good idea.

I agree, Wong may have been in a hurry, and not had much time with his own interviews. As Haynes being a former student, possibly remembering some glory days it would be a good thing. Haynes being faculty most recently may mean other things. Are the faculty pro or con on athletics?

I don't think Les rushed the process at all. I think the committee did a great job presenting great candidates. I also applaud Les for not pushing ahead once he became a finalist as SF State. It's critical that the incoming President have a say in the hire. I think that this situation has been very well handled by all parties involved.

I would hope professionally he did not but there was a lot on his mind. I think the vetting process did most of the work anyway. Regardless the new guy should take a look, not to mention some of the Ad candidates may want to discuss things to know if anything has changed.

Re: NMU Offseason: Forget bikes, we're stealing a Karr...

I guess what I fear is that Haynes isn't going to like any of the three selected candidates and either re-opens the position to a search again, or he cherry picks who he wants for the AD position.

How long has the Provost position been open? I would think that's the primary concern as it should be. While I greedily want the AD selection to be fast and the best of the three, athletics isn't priority one.

Interesting discussion in the UAH thread regarding Haynes, the AD selection, the New WCHA and UAH. We may just be the lynchpin...

*edit* And correct me if I'm wrong, but Haynes doesn't take control till Wong leaves, right? So any decisions he has on staffing have to wait until then? So we'd be looking at no announcement until August?

I may be wish casting, of course. After all, I though UAH could get 10 wins last year. [I just read that in the topic I created for 11-12. I'm embarrassed.]
