NMU @ Nebraska-Omaha: One Last, Final, Last Fish...

Re: NMU @ Nebraska-Omaha: One Last, Final, Last Fish...

Nice analysis NMU8405.

I've calmed down a bit after a very frustrating weekend of Wildcat hockey. While the chances of us winning out are probably about 1% I'm hoping we can do something in the CCHA tournament to get us over the hump. It seems like each and every year we are in this position where we control our own destiny and we ALWAYS COME UP SHORT. This weekend was simply pathetic and did nothing to help us out in the standings (pwr or conference).

Re: NMU @ Nebraska-Omaha: One Last, Final, Last Fish...

Hi all,
First, thanks for the additional memories. This weekend was again full of shenanigans and hockey.

Obviously, I'm pleased with the hockey outcomes. After traveling to Marquette earlier in the season, I now feel more "balanced." It definitely feels better to be on the W side of things.

I thought the Cats played a lot better on Sat, though the Mav's kept on the gas and definitely earned the win. I'll leave it to others there if they want to provide opinions on any player performance.

Fans again were a lot of fun, despite the on ice performance. I'd have to say their only misstep of the weekend was generously allowing me access to the Spirit Phone for the second period on Friday night. I almost blew out a lung cheering. (For the record, Mojo and crew refused to let me possess the Phone on Saturday and even took off the trinkets that had been offered in peace by other UNO fans. Your team immediately began playing better and brought the game to a tie.)

Memories, in no particular order:
 Cops honk at “Spirited” fans in the middle of a rainy, Old Market street.
 Meeting Jared Brown’s dad. Nice guy, I really enjoyed talking with him.
 Mojo tries to kill me, I step on his sack.
 2nd Period, Friday Night. Go Mav’s!
 Good food/fellowship at Dinner on Sunday.

Finally, the Spirit Phone is returning to Marquette. Their had been a late change to the rules (as reported by Fmr. Coach Kemp during the Pre-game video discussion of the trophy). Total goals were to be used as a tie-breaker if this season's record was to result in a dead heat (which it did). Unfortunately for the Mav's, total goals were tied as well. Advantage NMU.

Thus, our regular season record for the history of our programs in the same league is 15-15-6 (?). Spirit Phone = NMU.

Kinda like kissing your sister huh.

First off, I would like to say THANKS for the memories, Omaha. Boy, does your city stink! However, being in the booth on Fri & Sat was probably one of the biggest thrills of my (post)college memories...right up there with being on the bench for the Sat. night 3-0 game over MSU.
Also, a big thanks to Daveyd for his teachings and wisdom during the weekend. It may sound corny but, I'll tell you, listening to him call the game and share his hockey knowledge with me was great.
Also, a huge Puckhead shot to Mojo, Lujo and Scaryjo for the weekend of debauchery. Let's just say, I hope Mojo's nuts get better and hope that hot wing sauce gets out of white linen.

Finally, to NoClu, what a weekend. You truly embody the Spirit of Midwestern hospitality and all the things your state stands for. Dean Blais & Mike Kemp are both classy guys and after spending the weekend with you, its no wonder how they fit in to the UNO family as you do.

However, with that aside, if I thought kissing my ugly Husky sister was bad, this spirit phone weekend, was pretty Beefy. Good luck in the WCHA... PLEASE BEAT THE HELL OUT OF TECH EVERY ****** SERIES!!!!
