NMU @ Nebraska-Omaha: One Last, Final, Last Fish...

Re: NMU @ Nebraska-Omaha: One Last, Final, Last Fish...

This thread is definitely a much more entertaining read than the NMU-Tech threads!

I agree. MOJO's stories about this series are just awesome.
Can we stop playing Tech for our non-con games and play these guys instead?

I know it was posted earlier in the season, but who can resist (plus its from a great movie/book)

I doublely agree..... :D

Now, we need to get MAV NATION into USCHO and start posing, instead of MAVPUCK.COM...........

LETS GO CATS!!!!

I thought there used to be more of their posters on here, but they started migrating away right around the time of Bateman's "Fishgate."

You think after registering in MAVPUCK.COM from previous years I would be able to remember my user name and password.

Highlighted something in my original post, must have strip-club on the brain.... :D

I think your memory is fading because of all your time in the sand! I can track down you user name and password if you want.

Ok, on to the real story. Sorry I've been gone for a while, I'm still recovering from the holidays and my trip to Marquette in November. Unfortunately, there weren't enough red jello shots to dull the memory of poor Mav play that weekend. Good thing the bar had Wii Bowling.

Regarding this weekend. Our team has only played three home games in a month and a half. I'm hoping they will come out strong and put a beating on your Cats. We can really put shots on net, the question is will they be quality chances with a strong follow through to the net. We also need to stay out of the sin-bin...

P.S. I think it is stunning game analysis like I've just provided that keeps me from posting too often here. Heck, if I keep it up I'll be able to take over Paula Weston's job.

They would have to be good quality chances with the way Stewie has been playing. His save % has worked to a nice .920 area after being around .866 % and a GAA over 3.00 early in the year. The young d-core has been getting better and more confident after a half season.

Thank God for that; I don't think Gustafsson would have survived the season playing 40+ minutes a night.

Re: NMU @ Nebraska-Omaha: One Last, Final, Last Fish...

You know, there were a bunch of us on that trip, myself included. There are pictures of the Puckheads taking over the inside of the Red Army Bus. And as I recall Mojo, you wouldn't have gotten thrown out of the Qwest, had it not been for one random Aromaha fan that decided to yell out "It was Wingnut!"

Also, Meljo will attest to Jager shots being a terrible idea.

Maverick Women are BEEFY!

I also recall that the only way we could get MOJO back to the hotel was with false promises of Oystie being there, and in the end Lujo threatening to call mom. Oh and a car accident in the Gant Hall parking lot to start the trip off all because I realized just before leaving town that I had forgot my wallet.

Interesting, I have had issues getting Mojo back into a hotel room myself. Food is an answer...cheeseburgers.. Everyone remember that, it will probably come in handy

I believe it was Oystie was waiting with a keg at the hotel.

I forgot about the car accident. That was wonderful to hear. I vote another reunion road trip in the future-maybe to UNO. Iowa was such a wonderful drive

At least you made it back in a reasonable amount of time. Never listen to the kid in the car from Illinois that says it will be faster to go back through his home town. Adding hours onto an already long 14 hour drive is never fun.

This trip is slowly coming back to me. Also, never take a girl on a hockey road trip unless she is the one. Or else she ruins all the fun that is to be had.

I heard Mojo is bringing TWO girls on the trip this weekend! :D

Start the countdown clock, Just 21 hrs till they drop the puck!

From the Omaha Fish-wrap...

“We’re real close,” Blais said. “But we can’t be satisfied with just being close. We’ve got to be team-hungry. We’ve got to do everything a little bit better in practice. We’ve got to be better on the power play, and we’ve just got to be a little bit better in everything we do

2008-2009 Season
•Mav’s off to their best start in CCHA history. Looking forward to the start of the second half of the CCHA season.
•NMU has a rough start to the season, but are now riding high. They are coming off of their best weekend of the year after sweeping Wisconsin (winning two games straight) in Madison.
•January 9-10, 2009: Luckyjo, Kitjo, and Lujo attend the series and make yet another replacement Spirit Phone as NMU athletic department misplaces the original. NMU maintains possession of the Spirit Phone as a result of the series being split.

2009-2010 Season
And this season has scene another visit from NoClu to Marquette. Limo and party bus rides across the county and an octopus thrown on the ice at the Berry Events Center. Coincidently in front of Dallas Drake (former NMU national champion and Detroit Red Wing Stanley Cup Champion). So thus far NMU leads the series 2-0 coming into Omaha. They also have a commanding lead in total goals. Thus it would appear that NMU will maintain possession of The Spirit Phone well into the future...

But as with many things in the history of this series and The Spirit Phone...can we be so sure?

..."Kitjo" is actually Ääne jo... just saying. :P
