NMU @ Anchorage: We're Going Up North Again, Eh?

RaceBoarder

Waiting for the Snow to fly...
NMU still has games in hand and is looking to continue to climb the standings...

UAA has home ice and I assume they don't want to let go...

Should be a fun weekend of late night hockey

Re: NMU @ Anchorage: We're Going Up North Again, Eh?

If UAA can somehow win both of these games we can render those games in hand moot. So we got that going for us, which is nice.

Re: NMU @ Anchorage: We're Going Up North Again, Eh?

Being too lazy to research it maybe a NMU guy knows offhand how many times the Wildcats have visited here before?

Re: NMU @ Anchorage: We're Going Up North Again, Eh?

Five trips for nine games versus the Seawolves (we were invited to the Nissan/Jeep tourney in 91-92). Last game was 1-18-1997. Since that season, NMU has only seen the inside of the terminal as they connect to Fairbanks.

NMU is 3-6-0 lifetime inside Sullivan arena.

I well remember the games between these two teams before Northern jumped to the CCHA. It's nice to have them back in the WCHA. I like UAA's all time record, but it is really meaningless at this point.

Re: NMU @ Anchorage: We're Going Up North Again, Eh?

The Wildcats have to come to Alaska to get warm! Only 7 degrees in Marquette, 42 here right now!

Re: NMU @ Anchorage: We're Going Up North Again, Eh?

Okay, back to the topic at hand. Which of your players should we be watching, NMU fans? Anyone out with injuries?

Re: NMU @ Anchorage: We're Going Up North Again, Eh?

I wish I could answer it better Suze, but the Cats are experiencing the same thing the Red Wings are (injuries/flu by everyone). We lost the captain to an injury over a month ago, and are relying on the new guys to contribute.

There isn't a Santorelli/Florek/Olver (both of 'em) type player who's been a standout for years. Vigier has come around in his senior year. You may remember his cousin JP Vigier, who was a Freshman the last time NMU played UAA (also the last season NMU was in the WCHA until this year).

Suze, what about the Seawolves?
I'm hoping Allen is ready to go this weekend.
Don't know of anyone else banged up so bad they can't go.
..................................
Just read the morning paper.
Bummer!!
Allen not 100% so out for this weekend.
The good news is Friesen may be ready to go.
Doyle had a good write up this morning.
What a pleasant change.
It's a new day! And a great day to be a Seawolf!

Wow, that's tough to lose your captain for that long. What happened to him? No, unfortunately I don't remember JP Vigier, sorry! Anyway, it's good to have NMU back in the WCHA, welcome back!
