You're confusing body contact (no check) with body checking. There is plenty of contact in girls hockey. There's not supposed to be body checking. This says no contact.

You never know. The men's league in Des Moines considers itself no contact, while the one I played in in Omaha was non-checking. There is a difference. The Omaha one was way more fun (and better run, but that's besides the point).
USA Hockey has asked that very question. To quote a cafe owner in Casablanca, "I was misinformed" may be the result of this fiasco.

Sounds like everybody involved is crazy. The shooter is crazy by his deeds and manifesto (I like the ancient Martian overlords, though. Very Quatermass). Cruz is crazy because no kidding. The Pastor is crazy because he thinks God sent Cruz and the whole thing went down in Coeur d'Alene which is ground zero for the white supremacist fundy militia movement.
Take off and nuke the site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure.

So This Happened...
So much wrong with this...someone calls 911 because a person is suicidal. Cops burst in the door, taser an 86 year old man cause he had a knife in his hand, kick him in the stomach then arrest him for harassment. The NYPD spokespeople then commend the cops for showing "intelligent restraint" by using a taser and not shooting the guy.
Leaving aside the fact that the guy they were looking for was 23, since when is it proper procedure to treat possible suicides this way? My lord!

I don't recall any gambling in 1984, but there is a point to be made that as long as football remains the multi-sector cash cow that it is, the odds of anything serious being done about head traumas and CTE are slim-to-none.
If anything, across all of the four major revenue sports, I would say there is too much emphasis on playing a pro-style game from a young age, and it is proving to be detrimental to the development of players, the long-term health of the players, and the overall enjoyment of the game at the youth level.
