I'm not a big stereotyper, but man they look like they could easily be pedo's.

Maybe they were asking for the lube and toys- but the wrong ones were sent.

That second guy there looks like an artist drew his face, only the artist got raging drunk about a third of the way through the process and started confusing his work with a Picasso re-creation.

Meh. "Every fart thinks fresh air is an oppressor." Let them believe whatever they want in their Fundy Tora Bora caves. As long as they're out of our hair, it's none of our business what delusions they beat into their inbred children and sister wives.

Yeah except this state is filling quickly with them and it's kind of a pressing issue.

If someone wants to put martyerdom on a person who did a long armed trespass on a given property (even ignoring that it's a federal property), and that person goes to jail for a long time- that's pretty messed up.

I listened to the NPR report this morning, and some local lady thought that the person that was killed was the result of pre-mediated murder.

Not even considering that nobody else in the group was killed.

If it was murder, I would have expected all of them to have been shot.

It's hard to relate to the kind of thinking that comes up with this. All for the want of free food for their profit making animals.

I'm going to risk a really stupid question, so bear with me. How can people be killed instantly when they are shot? I can see it if the bullet just blows out your brain -- there's no control center left to tell your body what to do so you just fold up. But in most cases why wouldn't you just flail about for a while (albeit probably in extreme pain) and then fall when you've bled out to the point that no oxygen gets to your brain? Does the kinetic energy imparted by the bullet striking literally knock you over? Does the experience of being shot put you into shock?

A person's body will go into shock and just shut off the brain to keep from feeling the pain that leads to the inevitable. It doesn't always happen, but it does happen.

On another note... How about that agent appearing from out of the woods. :eek:

And the agent that he almost hit ran towards the vehicle, probably thinking that the blockade was going to be rammed.


I have no sympathy for this clown and only admiration for the officers/agents who have to bravely man a blockade while a vehicle is speeding towards them.

Dude made several bad decisions in succession that led to his death. After all of them, he still could have lived if he doesn't go for his gun or give the appearance that he's going for it.

In this case though, I just shake my head at the bad decisions that were made and because of them, won't lose any sleep over it.

I'm almost mad at him in a way.

I know that.

It bothers me though that I can watch that footage and not be shocked. 52 years of self-brainwashing via entertainment has calloused over my soul. Rather than a sympathetic identificaton with a life snuffed out my first reaction was technical: too bad the resolution isn't better so we could see whether he was going for a gun. That's wrong.

Yep.

I'm completely disconnected from the human story and dissecting it like we do questionable hits in hockey.


Pretty sure they could have opened fire when it became apparent he wasn't gonna stop. Will ask my former swat buddy who is supposed to be calling me about something else soon.

I think they showed considerable restraint.
