She witnessed "friendly" neighbors they'd had for decades turn on other Jewish people , including her parents. Never saw them again. Once liberation happened they high-tailed it across the pond.

The first pic, it's assumed that person entered the store. In the second, it's assumed that the foodstuffs came from a local store, b/c that store was really close. We honestly have no idea about the truth of either of those assumptions. Hence, context needed. This is a perfect example of the problem of today's media.
