Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

That..........wow, nice spin.

Again, TSA agents are following procedure, because they have to. Blame the rules/laws, not the agents. And while in this particular case I feel for Foss, anything metal should be declared because of the rules/laws. As I mentioned before, my mistake was a "rookie" mistake, as was Foss's non-declaration of the medal.

Edit: yes, I agree with you on the laws being moronic at times. THAT is what we need to fix.

Wow? Wow? Give me a break from "wow" would ya? Defend these moronic Barney Fife wannabes all you like. They're unionized now, so they can't be fired. Feeling up little kids. Feeling up granny's ostomy bags. Yup, it's an honorable profession, all right. I thought we had tribunals somewhere to put to bed this notion of "just following orders." I guess not.

You talk about "spin." Why is it so difficult to admit what happened to a 70+ war hero was galactically stupid, regardless of their precious "rules" and "procedures."

I agree it is stupid. That's the point. I hate this cliche, but I feel it's the most basic view I have on this subject: don't hate the player, hate the game.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Here's my question on the Marine and Delta...why wasn't the Marine boarded first? Every flight I've ever been on people who need special assistance board first. I would certainly think he'd qualify.

Agreed. I'm very confused about this as well.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Apparently the police search of the computer may have revealed a lot of info on the shooting including why he did it:

Well, if he gave indications of what his intentions were, I guess we can rule out "he just snapped." Klebold & Harris, Woo Tang Klan, & the Aurora shooter all planned it out. Loughner in Tucson, evidently, showed less planning.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

As I said on GPL:

The amount of misinformation in the Sandy Hook story is astonishing.

First, the mother has no discernible connection to the school according to authorities.
There were three weapons found in the school. The Sig Sauer, Glock, and a Bushmaster rifle. There MAY have been another rifle in the car.
The Bushmaster was the primary weapon used in the shooting.
The shooter forced his way into the school. He was not buzzed in.
The shooter had attempted to purchase a rifle in the days leading up to the shooting, possibly the day before. He did not want to wait for the mandatory waiting period.

My biggest question is the connection between the mother and the school. If there's no connection, I can't help but be even more disturbed by this...

I can't help but think that people just snap and do this for the most part. Usually if you "just snap" the carnage is limited to yourself and likely anyone in the immediate vicinity. Think the football player who just killed his wife/gf and then himself. That sounded more like he just snapped.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

:eek::eek::eek:

I like it.

So do I. But. . .as much as I loathe Freddy and the playboy band. . .we should remember that his "speech" is exactly why we have a First Amendment. While I support any legal effort to minimize his activities, the plain fact is: he's got a right to express himself. If, for instance, a bunch of those bikers who counter-protest at GI funerals were to use Freddy and his family as road cones, I'd secretly rejoice, while publicly tut-tutting about the infringement on his rights.

I can't recall a group whose existence is predicated entirely on inflicting emotional pain on others. The Klan, the Communists, the IWW none of them picketed at funerals, of anybody. Freddy and his band are, I belive, unique in that regard. And they present problems which various jurisdictions are dealing with the best they know how. Parade permits? Try that. Noise ordinances? Try that. Blocking roadways? Try that. Putting one between Freddy's antlers? Nope.

The thought of anyone picketing the funerals of those little angels is so repellant, so ugly that I can't summon up the words to describe my reaction. And whatever the authorities can do to restrict that picketing and shield the survivors from that hurt is fine by me. But we should also bear in mind that our response, even to the threat of picketing, is like cat nip to these a*sholes.

You don't suppose the whole WBC is on the No Fly List? At least going thru all of that mess every time they want to fly anywhere to act a fool sure would limit their range on short notice for shibby like this. That, and I would love the idea that they would need to get brand new tires every time they drove anywhere overnight.

Re: Nice Planet, Part 2: A-holes on parade

Let's sick the IRS on them. Let's audit the living **** out of their Form 990. Let's see about their tax-exempt status.

Well, I figure after a while, it might just be easier for em to just put the vehicle up on blocks whenever they stop somewhere and lock the tires inside of the vehicle. Of course, I wouldn't be all that upset if somebody else came along and lifted the vehicle up and took the blocks away and left it setting on in the parking lot like that. :D

That reminds me of the scene in the Pesci movie (The Super?) where his car is stripped down, nothing but the frame left and then the alarm goes off.
