Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

Holy ****, apparently the editors are p!sSed that the post was removed.

Our union drive has expressed at every stage of the process that one of our core goals is to protect the editorial independence of Gawker Media sites from the influence of business-side concerns. Today’s unprecedented breach of the firewall, in which business executives deleted an editorial post over the objections of the entire executive editorial staff, demonstrated exactly why we seek greater protection. Our opinions on the post are not unanimous but we are united in objecting to editorial decisions being made by a majority of non-editorial managers. Disagreements about editorial judgment are matters to be resolved by editorial employees. We condemn the takedown in the strongest possible terms.

Seriously, get ****ed. All of you.

They're talking about free speech, and unions and all that. Editorial speech and such. Um, the owners of the board can do whatever the hell they want. Again, if I read your post correctly.

Oh, yeah, totally wooshed me.

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

It's lost on so many people...most boards are private. Free speech is NOT protected in that situation. Learn the rules, folks.

No, not that. Wooshed because I thought you were talking about something else.

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

One writer just posted a picture of a cat with the caption "Please don't take me down" and tagged it with "Editorial Standards."

Then a writer for i09 replied with a picture of a dog.

I can't believe they're choosing to stand behind a story of aided extortion by an insane person in which a guy never actually cheated on his wife.

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

The only thing Jezebel has that is worth anything is the worst restaurant customer stories.

I think those are actually Gawker. Jezebel has the "bartender stories from hell."

My take on J is when it's a topical story and the great unwashed are commenting it's worthless. When one of their good writers actually brings her A game on a difficult topic, there are many dumb side discussions but the serious posters actually say some very interesting things. The takeaway I would give young (and not so young) males is that they're probably not writing for you and not interested in your appalled reaction, any more than Jalopnik would care if you signed on to post "I don't care about cars!" Yes, that may be true, but it's kinda a worthless comment given that's the purpose of the site.

If Jezebel bugs you, don't read it. I assumed it was going to be much worse than it really is, and I've actually gotten a lot of out some of the writers. When people wail "NO NO NO ITS TEH DEVIL!!!," well, that's kinda proving the site's point for them. :)

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

Nah, Jezebel, imho, is the worst of that network. They have a good point every once in a while, but for the most part they are self-marginalizing.

Nah, you're just a white, male misogynist :D. © Kepler

Ha. No, I have found a couple articles on Jezebel to be interesting over the last year or two. But for the most part, I have a pen15, therefore I am worse than Hitler and Comcast combined.

Seriously?!? Pen15 is censored?

It is. But you can still say cum-guzzling whore.

Model citizen.

Miller does not deny gunning down Dr. William Lewis Corporon, 69, and his 14-year-old grandson, Reat Griffin Underwood, at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park, and Terri LaManno, 53, at the nearby Village Shalom care center on April 13, 2014. He said he felt it was his duty to kill Jewish people before he died; he didn’t know all three were Christians.

Miller spoke Friday for nearly an hour about his planned defense, explaining that the Declaration of Independence gave him the “right” to do what he did and insisting that “there is no legal way to save the white race.” His rambling presentation touched on Caitlyn Jenner, AIDS, Israel, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, British wartime leader Winston Churchill, the Rev. Billy Graham and a Jewish conspiracy he alleged was behind the sitcom “All in the Family.”

Ryan said there was no “casual or direct connection” between the argument Miller made and the killings. In ruling from the bench, Ryan used guidance provided in the case of abortion opponent Scott Roeder, who unsuccessfully attempted to present a similar defense during his trial for killing late-term Kansas abortion provider Dr. George Tiller.

Behind Closed Ovens is on Kitchenette, which is a sub of Jezebel. I love reading those.

Got it. My wife was a hostess at a restaurant in Sedona the summer she was 18. Her stories about terrible customers are funny, but her stories about what happens in the staff soap operas are amazing.
