Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

Maybe it's because I didn't see the interviews, but that reads a lot more like its the Duggars (through the girls...nothing like using the victims!!) perpetuating that narrative rather than Fox.

If the media is letting them do it (which they are all eagerly doing), then they are just as guilty.

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

What term do YOU use for someone who has been sexually assaulted? The girls absolutely are victims, and their identities never should have been revealed, no matter how creepy their parents are or how sick their brother is.

I think he's meaning that the offender is being turned into a victim.

I sure didn't see that in the article he linked. Knowing the nuttiness of right wing evangelicals, I don't doubt for a second that it is probably happening elsewhere, but that article was specifically about an interview with the women who were abused, where they protested that they were the victims. I absolutely agree with that, and I feel feel sorry for them for a whole host of reasons - starting with their parents.

I didn't see anything that indicated to me that the women, the interviewer, or the author of the article thought for a second that the abuser was the victim.

Obviously the girls are the victims. The (predictable) idiocy here is the Echo Chamber, caught with its pants down after milking this family for all its gap-toothed Christian jamba juice and with every prominent Republican politician and pundit on film sticking their tongue down the molester's throat, has to quickly find a narrative where it's actually Christianity that's under attack. Enter THE TURRBLE LIBRUL MEDIA. Ta da!

While I didn't read the article, in the tv media, it's almost being portrayed that the offender is a victim of all this coverage, a victim of persecution, and that "the past is the past" etc etc.

Re: Nice Planet IX: Oh that's just GREAT...

My favorite moment in any disgraced public figure's rehabilitation is when he says he's "ready to move on." I can imagine a prisoner in the 4th year of his 30-year bid telling the warden, "I'm ready to move on, now." :p

No kidding. "Hey, I scarred my sisters emotionally, and what I did was wrong, but now I have this tv show that is making me a ton of money...let's let bygones be bygones..."

That poor child is lost to the world. Behavior that obscene already at that age, with a parent who acts like that, he doesn't really have much hope of becoming someone useful in his life.

The world needs Republican Congressmen, too.
