Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

What if Cosby over the years made it a practice to seduce young women by offering to "help their careers" with no intention of delivering? No drugs. No force. Just deception. That would make him a schmuck, not a rapist. And I'd say the victims of that sort of manipulation might want to pay back the old b*stard, given the chance. Well, now they've got their chance.

There probably isn't a woman alive who's had multiple partners who didn't feel used at some point or another. They chalk it up to experience and being young and naive.

They don't come out years later with a group rape charge.

As far as the conspiracy theory... really?

Stop putting the word "conspiracy" (or anything else, for that matter:p) in my mouth. In the scenario I described, Cosby's various partners wouldn't necessarily be aware of one another. Besides, there are very few potential paramours with the stature of a Cosby. And the resentment the ladies might feel, coupled with the slathering media attention could overcome any reluctance to go public. Besides, you beg the question of what young women taken advantage of in the manner I describe would or would not do. You have no idea. And neither do I.

All I'm suggesting is we put down the burning torches long enough to see if there's any more to this story. We can tar and feather Cosby at our liesure

And now, from a simpler time. Here's how it's done. Of course, things like that don't happen anymore, and people who blow the whistle on the government just happen to turn out right that second to be pedophiles or terrorists or whatever the witchcraft flavor of the month is.

Alger Hiss, 'phone your fan club. Your narrative leaves out the fact that when the wiretaps on MLK were revealed, and the usual suspects reacted in the usual way, Hoover produced a document ordering the taps (wait for it) signed by Robert Francis Kennedy, Attorney General of the United States. Oops.

That's a fair point. But what is the number of women at now? Do you think every single one of them is lying? What stikes you as the more likely possibility?

Another variation of "where there's smoke, there's fire." Proof, please.

Re: Nice Planet #8: You People Make Me Sick.

Just accuse him of child abuse. Automatically guilty and even if the charges are proved false the stigma is attached to him permanently.

That doesn't work if it's just a cash grab, because you've played out all your leverage off the bat.

If it's a political smear job, however, it's perfect. You don't even have to kidnap him and give him drugs anymore.

Sexual abuse, especially of children, is the one charge for which many Americans (including dues paying liberals) are willing to stand the presumption of innocence on its head.
