Re: Nice Planet 6: Get Me Off This Planet.

The story about the teenage girl who left her home and then sued her parents to keep paying for her high school tution anyway keeps getting weirder.

She is staying with another family who is paying for the lawsuit. Um, why wouldn't the other family just take the money from the lawsuit and pay the girl's tuition with it instead? [aside: that's a rhetorical question, I can speculate on a few different reasons....]

Original story:

A New Jersey teenager is suing her parents, claiming she was kicked out of her home and thus entitled to money for private-school tuition, transportation, room and board....The eldest daughter of Sean and Elizabeth Canning said she was forced out, while her parents insist she moved voluntarily.
...
Canning ... admitted he and his wife butted heads with Rachel over typical parent-kid issues.

She didn’t adhere to assigned household chores, disrespected other family members and refused to observe a midnight curfew, according to the dad.

There was another story yesterday and now there are today's details:

a report that the man bankrolling her lawsuit allowed the teen to get boozed up and throw wild ragers in his home.

Powerful attorney John Inglesino, who took Rachel under his wing, let her get drunk on vodka in his Rockaway Township house when she was 15, according to a report in the Daily Mail.

Parents Sean and Elizabeth Canning claim in court documents that Inglesino provided their daughter with not only a home but a place to drink and party.

Rachel’s dad claims she had once been so hung over from a night of drinking, she puked all over a sidewalk and into a garbage can, the Mail reported.

Rachel’s parents also claim the Inglesino family hosted parties and paid for rides in limousines filled with wine coolers.

“Rachel was angry because we would not host an alcoholic party,” her dad said in court papers.

...

In a Morristown court Tuesday, after Rachel filed for an emergency order to get $600 a week from her parents, Judge Peter Bogaard blasted the young woman, referring to an obscene voicemail she left for her mother.

"I'm shocked, shocked" that a lawyer is behind this nonsense. "Bailiff, whack his peepee."

You know, by definition I may be one of these Millennials everyone's all worked up about...but I NEVER DID ANYTHING LIKE THIS.

I'd say I want them, but I only buy Tony Lama. I'd much rather have the Cayman Signature Series Lamas, much more character.

Just for the record, the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is a very BFD. Biggest in the world. Reliant stadium filled night after night, world class entertainment (not just country acts). One tradition when I lived in Houston (and presumably going on today) is for the big cigars (A. J. Foyt, Red Adair, et al) to bid up the price on the grand champion steer to well over six figures. That meant some teenager who raised the critter had his college all paid for.
